If you are using avocado and avocado oil why do you still use canola oil? Canola oil can break down and go rancid in certain temperatures. I thought avocado oil held up better in heat?

Answer by ChewyMar 27, 2018
Canola oil provides a blend of omega fatty acids for optimal skin and coat health. Canola oil also contains alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid, and is a source of vitamin E. The avocados and avocado oil that are used in this product help promote good health and a healthy skin & coat.

I thought avocado was potentially harmful if eaten by dogs?

Answer by ChewyAug 05, 2019
AvoDerm dog and cat foods contain avocado meal and avocado oil as ingredients that have proven to be both beneficial and safe for your pet. Whole avocados should not be given to a pet as the seed could potentially be a choking concern and they should not consume the skin. Avocado meal and oil is a great source of good fats and antioxidants that can help produce healthy skin and a beautiful coat. Avocado contains 18 amino acids and 20 vitamins and minerals.

Is the trout from a fish farm or wild caught?

Answer by ChewyFeb 27, 2024
The trout is wild-caught from the Pacific Northwest.

Answer by ChewyJul 21, 2020

Chewy has been out of our regular food for months, and has yet bothered to explain. It would be nice to know if the company is going out of business so we can switch. They have also not offered an apology, a coupon, or any information on when or if it will be available again, nothing. I have lost confidence in them, and am going to my local small business pet store to explore our options.

Pepper liked it a lot. It helped her allergies and was better for her coat! When it comes back in stock, I would like to order it again!!

I have a 6 yr. old golden retriever that has been suffering for all 6 yrs. He has an allergy with his skin. I have tried numerous dog foods, including prescription diets to no avail, I have tried CBD oil for dogs, supplements, and different shampoos even. He just chews himself to death and it breaks my heart to see him so miserable. Avoderm was recommended to me and within 3 weeks he is a happy boy!! Veterinarians should be recommending this food instead! I can't be happier!! Thank you so much.

Food was acceptable substitute quality-wise, of course more expensive for less product and inconvenient to transition Zevon to a new food by mixing with the old, which is no longer being manufactured by Breeders Choice apparently. As always you guys are GREAT but the the manufacturer has made ordering inconvenient.

I had been using the Avoderm in another flavor which became unavailable, so I ordered this. My dogs HATE it and will not eat it. Going to donate the rest to a local shelter and hopefully they have dogs that will eat it. Total waste of money.

I mix this food with another brand and my dog isn’t a fan. They’ll eat this ( eventually ) but you can tell they’re hoping for better. A vet had us switch to a prescription Hill’s kibble and sadly it wrecked our dog’s digestion ( we mixed it into their food incrementally ) . They loved the pricey hills food though- Murphys law. Too bad this food is better for their digestion but apparently not as tastey ( they’d rather have something with chicken in it). This food is fine, but again we often have to add a topper or some broth to get enthusiasm
