What if your dog eats pieces of it? My dog is notorious for doing that.

Answer by ChewyMay 07, 2020
Keep an eye out for wear and tear. Within a month or so, most dogs chew Benebone into submission. Rice-sized flakes are OK, but if it looks like larger chunks are about to come off, it’s time to replace.

are these made in China? where are they made?

Answer by ChewyMar 18, 2020
This chew toy is made in the USA.

Is it meant for the dog to consume or not?

Answer by ChewyOct 10, 2022
This toy is not intended for consumption. Benebones are durable chews designed to last a few weeks or more. We recommend replacing monthly, or sooner if wear indicates. If pieces the size of rice or smaller fall off the Benebone, these generally do not cause a problem. If the product has lost more than a sugar cube’s worth of volume, it is time to replace.

What size should I buy for my 70 pound border collie retriever mix who is an aggressive chewer?

Answer by ChewyApr 02, 2021
Pups weighing 60 to 90 pounds should have a large sized Benebone. No chew toy is completely indestructible. Be sure to always supervise your pup while playing with this toy. Discard after any damage or significant wear.

Puppy Loves the Zaggler

American made (which means you’re not paying extra taxes from stupid tariffs), BPA free, and like any other toy it is not indestructible. My puppy likes to chew on metal (obviously not good), so I got him all of the Benebones along with some additional tough toys and enrichment toys. I’ve given Benebones to my other dog when he was a puppy three years ago, so I figured my new pup would love these too. I’d recommend rotating the toys out and not letting them super chew on one benebone all at once. My puppy loves the Zaggler the most. Supervise your pet when they chew on these, don’t leave it alone with them period, especially if they are super destructive ( I’m talking like YOUNG puppy Lab energy). Benebones typically only last a month it says so on the packaging. It also states that rice sized bits are fine anything larger than that needs to be tossed out. Rice sized bits ain’t going to kill your dog. I’d much rather have my dog chew on a benebone than metal. Metal can break and damage teeth, and his Benebones keep him from chewing on metal. If you’re concerned talk to your vet about it. The packaging states to talk to your vet to make sure these toys are right for your dog. Also, they can be sharp so don’t leave them lying around. Put them away. My dogs have a toy box because just like kid toys they can hurt if you step on them. If you are worried about the pieces on the bone then I’d recommend getting something like a Kong extreme chewer and filling it with a dog liquid treat filler like broth or shoving banana slices inside of it and freezing it. It won’t splinter off and it won’t cause the gums to bleed. I have experience with dogs that are extremely destructive, so I hope whoever reads this finds this helpful. Chewy sells broths and even peanut butter fillers that do not contain xylitol and even have it on the packaging itself (Westpaw). These can be placed inside something like a Kong and frozen.

Yes. My dogs enjoyed chewing on this bone. Out of the entire assortment, it’s probably their favorite. However, stepping on this in the middle of the night just about cost me my life. Not only is this the perfect shape to break your foot, it also slides impeccably well. I was inches from sliding down the stairs in the dead of night on my way to the bathroom. If you thought stepping on legos was awful. Never again.

My dog loves these bones, but normal chewing causes a lot of sharp plastic pieces to pop up and/or come off completely. My dogs gums bled with the sharp pieces and I’m sure she swallowed a few pieces, which are almost like shards of glass. Very scary and sad :( my dog did truly love these bones, but I can’t give them to her anymore.

This seems to be one of our favorite! Not sure if it’s the flavor or the way it can be held in the mouth or how easy it is to play tug-o-war with but my pups seem to enjoy this Benebone. When my 60lb pup carries this one it looks like he has a binky in his mouth. He always has one of the Benebones in his mouth whether its the zaggler, fish, maplestick, wishbone, etc! Both my pups (60lbs & 30lbs) love them all!

Great for teething

It’s a larger version of the puppy one and it is so helpful with our puppy and lasts way longer than the smaller one
