Questions & Answers

14 Customer Questions

Are these bully sticks safe for puppies?
Answer by ChewyJul 26, 2020
These treats are suitable for all life stages.

Are these dehydrated or baked?
Answer by ChewyApr 29, 2020
Bully sticks are cleaned and sorted in a refrigerated facility to ensure safety. The bully sticks are then hung vertically from racks and cooked in an oven to ensure that they are bacteria free and safe for dog’s consumption. Hanging the bully sticks vertically removes most of the moisture from the product. The longer that they are dried, the less odor they have.

What is the max fat in these?
Answer by ChewyJan 03, 2020
There is a minimum fat content of 3.2% in these bully sticks. A maximum is not provided, as it can vary. These are made from a body part of an animal, and not made from scratch like a biscuit, which makes it hard to guarantee that each will be the same.

Are these Bully Sticks Raw Hid Free?
Answer by ChewyDec 20, 2020
This bully stick is high in protein, low in fat and is a safe alternative to rawhide treats.

These are a good price

I was surprised to see the negative reviews. Bully sticks are all natural healthy treats for your dog that they can stimulate their chewing desires. It's not a bone, they will eventually eat the whole thing, it keeps my dog occupied for 10-15min. They are smelly, but it's not that bad. The price isn't bad at all these are BULLY sticks not gullet sticks. Gullet is cheaper but faster to chew. Bully sticks last longer and the typical price you pay for the same size and quantity in a pet store is about double. These are a great value and bully sticks are excellent natural treats for your dog. This is a great deal for what you're getting. Also yes bully sticks might have a hard edge to them, it won't hurt your dog. Your dog descends from an animal that cracks bones open with it's teeth to eat bone marrow a 90 degree angle on a bully stick isn't going to hurt your dog. Let your dog be a dog and chew on some smelly animal parts, it's good for them.

Who cares as long as your pup is happy?

To address all the negative reviews re: being expensive or smelling bad— yes they are expensive (as with all high quality bully sticks) and they do stink a little bit. There is nothing in the world that brings our pup more joy than these bully sticks. Whenever he’s acting up, this will calm him down and sooth his achy gums. The smell isn’t great, but it’s wildly exaggerated in other reviews I’ve read. As long as he’s not chewing it on the couch or directly in front of your face, it’s perfectly worth it.

I was referred to try these bones from a friend. She has a couple retrievers and I have a retriever, wheaten terrier and a maltipoo - this is great for the maltipoo. My retriever devoured it in 2 minutes and my wheaten terrier was not impressed. They are very skinny and I feared that they would choke on them. They were expensive too - so my maltipoo big time. My friend has the super large ones but at $300 - I just thought that was too expensive for bones. Will keep searching for an alternative to rawhide bones.

Good treats for hide and seek

These are darn stinky, the bag re-seals tightly for smell free storage (odor free when the bag is closed). Our dog and I learned to play the hide and seek game with bully sticks from my neighbor. Must lay down and stay while I go and hide the treat. These work great, because they are dry to touch, really tough to chew, now our dog scents the air instead of just at a visual search.

Not for Pitbulls

My dog is a pitbull, and while these treats are probably okay for smaller dogs this is not something that he can "bully" and chew on for a long time. For the price, they are not worth it for a few minutes of chewing.

So far so good

Let me start by saying that the last brand of bully sticks that I purchased started out good as well. As time went on, the quality and size seemed to diminish. The sticks got skinnier and even the thicker ones didnt last as long. These so far are good. My dogs like them and they are all the same size. We will see if these don't also diminish in quality or size.

So Disappointed

I just received this bag of bully sticks, and what a disappointment! They are thin and they all have such sharp edges sticking out. I will never order these again! Such a waste of money. I have two 15 pound dogs and am afraid to even give these to them.

Do not buy

I normally buy bones & chews or barkworthies but I decided to try these. First off they’re decent sized but THIN, they also have a rancid smell radiating off of them. Barkworthies has gullet sticks for $1-2 per bone and they’re 4-6inches per and are way thicker with no smell. These are overpriced and smelly. Do not buy

Don’t buy this product

I used to love this product. The dog did too, but the product has seriously changed. I was worried when people started to say that the product was no longer as thick or long lasting. Well, I have an old stick and a new one. The company that I loved is slicing the bully sticks in half longitudinally. They have halved the product and upped the price. I can not imagine what the machine must look like that slices them in half. I would like to share photos of product before and after but I don’t know how. Very dissatisfied and will no longer buy this product as the maker is cheating. Chewy is however still the best.
