Blackwood Complete & Balanced Diet Adult Chicken Meal & Brown Rice with Ancient Grains Recipe Dry Dog Food, 24-lb bag

Pekoe is 16,has disliked dry dog food forever. We discovered this brand looking for a sensitive stomach food for our other dog. We left him try it and to our surprise he loved and continues to do so.

Blackwood Chicken Meal & Brown Rice contains every healthy ingredient anyone could possibly imagine, starting with chicken meal and brown rice to such exotic ingredients as dried kelp, apple pomace and blueberries. Prebiotics and probiotics and a satisfying 24% protein analysis leave nothing to be desired for my dog's good health. Of course, a Lab is not a picky eater, so I am not the best judge of this dry food's appeal to the more gourmet palettes of some pooches, but knowing that he's getting all the nutrients he needs is what I ask most in a quality dog food. The description of the product on the bag touts the "slow-cooked difference," which refers to cooking the food slowly in small batches and not over-cooked, but I confess that I do not understand how that affects the final product. Dry food is dry food. I also was not sure I felt comfortable with the name and packaging. The name "Blackwood" in a black bag is certainly different, but I found it off-putting in that it hints at a dark and foreboding forest and not at all related to a happy dog vibe. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The quality is 5, but the packaging, different but not in a good way, is not appealing to me.

I have been buying the large bag of this exact product for several years and never had an issue with my auto shipment. Recently, the company changed the image on the packaging (but the formula stayed the same); I have had issues with multiple auto shipments ever since this change took place. It seems to be a two-part problem. 1) For whatever reason, this product is frequently out of stock. 2) My auto-shipment page NEVER reflect that the product is out of stock (“out of stock” notice can only be seen when you click on the product and are redirected to that product page). The major problem is the disconnect in notifications to the customer when product is out of stock. This leads to the entire auto-shipment NOT being shipped and NO notification being sent to me. This is incredibly frustrating because it causes me to run out of the food and supplements, which should be shipped every 4 weeks for my two large dogs. I have spoken with a couple of Chewy representatives regarding this issue; one was very friendly, apologetic, and told me this issue should not be happening and that she was going to put in a ticket on the issue. Another representative just kept telling me I should have gotten an email, despite me telling him that this has happened to me many times and never once have gotten an email about auto-shipment not being shipped due to product being out of stock. I want to add that this is the first major problem I have ever had with Chewy. I think that Chewy is a phenomenal organization I have been a loyal customer for years. I am optimistic that they will correct this issue, hopefully sooner than later.
