About BLUE Buffalo

Blue Buffalo began with unconditional love and some furry inspiration from a large breed Airedale, Blue. When Blue's family started a pet food company, their vision was clear. They wanted every pet parent to be able to feed their pet with the same care they would feed family. So they created the #1 natural pet specialty food to help furry family members live happy, healthy lives. Of course, they named it after Blue.

Questions & Answers

12 Customer Questions

why does this contain carrageenan? it can cause IBD and gastrointestinal issues.

Answer by ChewyMar 02, 2021
The carrageenan used in some of our products is a food grade, AAFCO and FDA approved ingredient. It is used in some of our canned formulas for its use as a stabilizer and thickener. This is a natural ingredient that is derived from a red seaweed extract.

How is this a GI formula? The first few ingredients are chicken, fish, and carageenan; 3 of the worst food allergens ever.

Answer by ChewyNov 11, 2019
This is a GI formula because it contains prebiotic fibers to help balance and maintain your pet’s healthy GI microflora. This recipe contains vitamins E and C, plus antioxidant-rich ingredients including blueberries and cranberries to help support a healthy immune system.

What is the phosphorus content ?

Answer by ChewyFeb 27, 2020

Overall the composition of this food suited me. But this GI food contains Carrageenan (which is natural & FDA approved). BUT it can cause inflammation and intestinal damage in animals, especially for those with (IBD). So I decided not to risk the health of my sensitive fur baby and find a healthier alternative for wet food.

Cost effective, works to ease digestive issues and the cats like it!

So far my two Maine Coons will actually eat this. It doesn’t break the bank like some of the other veterinarian canned food and it has helped their digestion.
