This is a relatively new product to me. Having a Ridgeback mix who is not a huge fan of having her teeth brushed, I'm always on the lookout for a dental-focused, 'calorie free' chew, and I'm glad I found this one. For starters, it seems to have a delicious taste that my dog loves. She enjoys chewing on this durable 'brush' too, and each one lasts quite a while before needing to be replaced (once the edges are chewed down). The 'handle' is one of the neatest things about this chewy, imo, and my dog seemed to know exactly what to do. I was initially concerned about it being made of a plastic type material, as I don't want my dog eating non-digestible substances. However, I don't really find it to be an issue, as she does chew it (a lot) which can cause little pieces to fall off, but she doesn't make any attempt to actually eat it. (Nor have I noticed any pink pieces in her stool or anything). As with any treat or chewy toy, I would definitely recommend supervising your dog when enjoying this product. Having tried a couple other of the non-edible 'brush-type chews', this is our favorite so far.
My dog hasn't tried this Chew Toy yet. My previous dogs loved this toy!
Dogs seem to like them. Probably too early to tell if they are really helping their dental plaques.
I was really hopeful my dogs would like these more. They love peppermint, like greenies, Dentastix, mint toothpaste (even chapstick and gum when they can get it)! They really need to add more peppermint flavor to these, then they would be great. I gave 3 stars for durability. But my dogs were not thrilled with them :(
One of our pup is heavy chewer. I was supervised when I gave them this toy. It’s only about 3 minutes, she stared destroyed and I noticed the toy had blood. I believe this is a good toy. Unfortunately, it’s not for heavy chewer.
My dog (a very little goldendoodle) destroys all of her toys. So we have to buy hard plastic. This toy is fantastic. She's chewed it fiercely !
This is made of a hard plastic. I consider it a danger and not digestible.
I only gave this a 3 not due to the product but my 2 bigger dogs wouldn't mess with it at all and my small dog chewed on hers for a while and that was it. I think the product is fine, my children apparently think they don't need to help me take care of their teeth.
I have a smaller medium sized dog (shih-tzu mix) that had his front teeth removed due to infection. I was excited to try this to help clean the rest of his remaining teeth. I ordered the medium thinking it would be the perfect size. Unfortunately I received a large so I emailed Chewy. Without question, they apologized and sent me another one. In a few days, I received another large so I emailed them again. They stated “ I did some digging and see that the packaging for the BulliBone Superbrush Peppermint Flavor Dog Chew Toy, Medium says the word large on the packaging but is the correct item. We only offer it in a small and Medium size. It seems like there may be a packaging mistake but you did receive the item ordered.” The medium is definitely for a large dog so I gave this to family who has a large dog. The toy is very hard and plastic. I thought there would be softer bristles to help clean the teeth but there wasn’t. This might be good for large dogs, but I would not recommend this for small dogs with teeth issues. I did like that there was a spot that the dog could put his paws to help hold the toy steady to chew.
I have a small dog with bad teeth and I’m always on the hunt for anything to help his teeth out. I usually order a size up in toys because he seems to like them a little bigger, so I ordered a medium in this toy. Unfortunately I received a large (I don’t even think the company makes a medium - the large is the one pictured too, so I think the medium listing is a mistake on Chewy’s part). Anyways, this toy is HUGE, heavy and hard. It might be good for a very large dog, but not for a small or medium sized pup. I’m also not sure my dog would chew on this even if it were smaller. It’s a hunk of very hard plastic. For some reason, I thought the material would have more give; I think my dog prefers softer things to chew on. I tried putting toothpaste on it as suggested and he was not interested. I tried putting something yummier (PB) in the grooves, and he just licked it off. All that to say, don’t buy the medium expecting a medium and don’t buy if your dog doesn’t enjoy chewing on hard plastic toys.
