Smells good, needs better sales description.

I received the product, but its taken a few weeks to try it out with my horse. I'll start with "He doesn't hate it". My horse eats 3 quarts of Senior pellets and 1 quart of timothy pellets three times a day. His food is then soaked in water to make a soupy mush. So, as you can imagine, when I put the recommended 1 or 2 Tablespoons per meal of this powdered product into that soup, it's very hard to know if my horse even tastes the difference. SO what CAN I tell you? Well, the product is called "Crumbles". But its not really what I would call crumbles (which to me sounds like a crumbly cake-like topping). Instead this product is more of a fine powder. Also, the product description on Chewy for this product says "Caledon Farms Crumbles Apple & Alfalfa Recipe Horse Treats, 10.6-oz bag" these come in a 10.6 oz 'bag'. This product shouldn't really be called "Horse Treats" because its a fine powder... not something you can hand to your horse.. And it really doesn't come in a 10.6oz bag... it comes in a 10.6oz plastic wide mouth jar. So, I think the marketing for the product could be a little more clearly defined. But overall, the product smells really good. I just can't tell if my horse notices a difference when I put it on his mush. I've taken a few pix of the product to give future customers a better idea of what to expect.

Caledon Farm crumbles apple flavor

I do like this product as it seems horses are living longer and needing Suppliments. Some horse are very particular and need help with disguising certain supplements. I have in the past tried many different concoctions to get my horses to take their meds or supplements. This product I believe would have been beneficial for me. At this time I do not have any horses requiring supplements. I did however sprinkle the Caledon Farms food topper on top of my horses feed and they both scarfed it up. No questions asked.

I have to put quite a few supplements and meds in my horse's grain. So I was eager to get these crumbles as a topper. I was skeptical at first because my horse won't eat anything that is a powder, and when I opened this container, the consistency looked like a powder. I had expected something more granular, since "Crumbles" is in the name of the product. But she likes it! Or she doesn't hate it. :-) I sprinkle a bunch on top of grain, covering up the capsule and pill she gets. And she has not hesitated to eat all of her grain. I also like that the top of the container has one side that you can use a spoon to measure out an amount, and the other side to just sprinkle it on, which is the side that I use. The directions say to top the grain with up to two tablespoons. I just eyeballed it and sprinkled what looks like two tablespoons. Even though it is all on top, she uses her big Friesian lips to spread it around so I'm pretty sure it gets mixed into the rest of the grain as she eats. She is a picky eater and is usually suspicious of anything new added to her grain, but she ate this willingly.

Tasty Toppper for Selective Eater

One of my horses is a very selective eater and historically has often turned his nose up at treats, certain feeds, and supplements. I decided to try the Caledon

One of my horses is a very selective eater and historically has often turned his nose up at treats, certain feeds, and supplements. I decided to try the Caledon Farms Crumbles over the supplement that he receives morning and evening, hoping that he would start finishing his entire feeding (he'd often leave 1/3). The apple/alfalfa ingredients make this a pleasing product which smells good and the fine powder texture allows me to easily sprinkle it over the feed. I have been using this for about 1 week and have found that using about 1 tablespoon per feeding works best for my horse. The container is a nice size that I can easily fit in my jacket pocket and topdress the feed before I bring it out to my horse. I am happy to say that he is finally finishing his feedings!

I was very hopeful that this product would be a hit with my our two horses, especially when giving any medications. Unfortunately they both rejected what was sprinkled on their normal feed. They sniffed at it, had a taste, then walked away from the feed bowl. We then tried mixing it in with their feed ration and got the same results.

Thank you for allowing me to try this product but first, it is not crumbles, it is powder. It did smell rather appetizing for a horse, but my horse is such an enthusiastic eater, it was hard to tell if he ate better because of it, but it may help a horse that is picky or needs encouragement to eat their grain. If I were not adding wheatgerm oil to my horses grain, I would wet down the grain to keep this from blowing away when my horse smelled it. The powder is very light in texture. I am not sure I would buy this again.

Caledon Farms Crumbles Apple & Alfalfa horse treats were enjoyed by my horse. This treat has a very good aroma. My horse ate the treat but I was hoping she would eat her medicine with the treat but she managed to eat around the medicine like she usually does. I feel certain that if she was not eating well in the future, this treat would spark her appetite though. Would purchase again.

This is an all natural treat for horses, the flavor is Apple and Alfalfa Recipe, It comes in a nice 10.5 Oz thick plastic container, The product is a fine texture so I sprinkled some on my horses grain that I feed daily. They didn’t turn their noses up at it and seemed to like it. It looks and smells like a product I would recommend to my friends with horses. This product is put out by Caledon Farms

Good for picky eater
