Where are the ingredients sourced from- all they all from the US? Anything from China?

Canidae uses ingredients from the US and quality ingredients from around the world. From fresh bison like those found on the grasslands of Wyoming, fresh lamb from places like Colorado, fresh salmon and trout from the Pacific Northwest, to fresh produce from all across the Heartland, and other quality ingredients from around the world. They also source ingredients such as duck meal from France and lamb meal from New Zealand.

It says that Glucosamine and Chondroitin are naturally occurring, what are they present in. Is it the duck?

This food does not contain chicken protein as an ingredient. The number one ingredient is Duck. This recipe has duck and duck meal as the first two ingredients. Duck meal is made by grinding the protein after it has been rendered (cooked in a stew-like way but at high temperatures) and then dried so it'll contain a higher protein content and low moisture which helps provide the pet with the most nutritional value in the food. I have used this recipe before, and it did not disappoint this time either. I use duck for the older dog and his allergies, and Canidae puts a lot of duck in the bag. The protein and fat ratios are great, and the 500+ calories hit the spot for high energy dogs. Both dogs had good stools, so digestibility is good. Overall, if you need a novel protein with high protein levels and high calories, this is a great choice. I do highly recommend this food.

I’m trying to transition my dog off of a hydrolized protein dog food onto a food that has animal protein. She has never had duck so I picked this one out. I think I’m feeding too much because she seems a bit more plump than before, but that’s an easy fix. I wished the kibble was larger. They’re cat food sized pieces. It doesn’t affect her desire to want to eat this. I just hope she doesn’t choke. We’ve done a slow transition over a few weeks, and her stools have stayed firm. They’re the easiest to pick up to date, so clearly it’s agreeing with her sensitive gut. Win-win
