We recommend a 7 day transition period to smoothly make the switch as gentle as possible on your pet’s digestive system. You can increase the transition time if your cat is particularly sensitive to menu changes.
Days 1 & 2: 25% Under the Sun, 75% Previous Brand Days 3 & 4: 50% Under the Sun, 50% Previous Brand Days 5 & 6: 75% Under the Sun, 25% Previous Brand Days 7 & on: 100% Under the Sun
When transitioning slowly is not possible, feed smaller portions more regularly. We suggest breaking up the daily intake to 3 to 4 feedings per day. Adding warm water to the food will also decrease the chance of your pet eating too quickly and not chewing thoroughly. Gulping a highly palatable product could cause vomiting. If at any time during the transition, your pet experiences gastro-intestinal upset, keep the ratio of new to old food the same for several days. This will allow time to adjust to the new ratio before you incorporate more of the new food. In the event you are not transitioning with your old food, withhold food for 1 day and then start re-introducing 3 to 4 feedings per day mixed with warm water. All other treats and supplements should be withheld until fully transitioned. You may notice a change in the appearance of your pet’s stool even after the transition period. This can often be a result of a change in the amount of fiber and protein in the new diet and is normal.

No longer good
By Laura on Jan 22, 2021
I bought Canidae Under the Sun Chicken for my dog for a long time. I bought a bag last time of Turkey to try that out but it was full of what looked like saw dust. I went back to Chicken however the same and even worse with this bag. Something is happening to this brand as it was not like this before and I do not find it just a bad luck batch when I get two different type of bags months apart with same saw dust issue. No longer will by from Canidae. Too bad as my dog seemed to enjoy it.

Powdery but dogs love it
By BandOkie on Feb 3, 2021
So, the dogs love it. Looks to be nutritious, but I am not an expert. It is powdery/mealy. I noticed when pouring it into the bucket that it has a lot of loose meal/powder. I don't like to give the powder to the dogs, so I am sure I am losing a bit of what I paid for.

I like this product I know it’s not approved by the dog food company. I haven’t tried any other brand. With big bags you get a lot more .

Not for my pup
By Nori on Apr 9, 2020
Purchased this on a recommendation and my cockapoo will not eat it. She is roughly 18 months and we had transitioned her to adult food for the last three months. We purchased this to switch it up as we always do with food after a few months. She is not a picky eater and she would not eat this food.

3 out of 4 dogs would NOT eat it :-(
By Haley on Feb 25, 2020 top500Contributor
I had been feeding a different grain free food and saw this on sale. Thought we'd give it a try. Of my four dogs, only one ate it, and he will eat anything. I'm going to try and mix this with their regular food, and see if I can use it up. But I will not be purchasing this again.

Disappointed
By Shey on Mar 19, 2020
Sadly I had to give it a 1 star because my fur baby doesn't like it at all. I was very disappointed he didn't . I purchased it confident he was gonna like it after all the good reviews it has.

Healthier than ever
By Great on Jan 15, 2020
I started both my dogs on this food 3 months ago. One was absolutely refusing to eat his food (Pure Balance) and the other was just unhealthy and sick constantly. I took a chance and decided to try Canidae under the sun...the reviews were great and I did my research and saw no problems in the ingredients. Since switching them to this food, they both gobble it up, have healthy poop, healthy coats, and haven’t been sick since. This food was life changing for me and my dogs and I very much so recommend it.
