Where is this food sourced and manufactured?

Answer by ChewyOct 08, 2021
Canisource is manufactured in Quebec, Canada. Most of the ingredients are from North America. However, the lamb meat is from New Zealand or Australia. None of the ingredients come from Asia.

The 4.4 lb of food is equal to how many pounds when mixed with water?

Answer by ChewyDec 03, 2020
Canisource Grand Cru is a dehydrated kibble that is meant to be served as is. You may add hot water to the kibble to soften it just a bit, but it is not meant to be served rehydrated. How much the rehydrated kibble would weigh would depend on how much water is added if you decide to do so.

Is there any chicken in this product?

I recently bought a package of Canisource Grand Cru Pork & Lamb to try for the first time. One of my dogs, who will eat anything, loves it. My other dog is a picky eater and he will eat it, though not as enthusiastically as dog #1. It appears to be a high quality food and I imagine that dogs find the odor appealing. The only think I don't like about it is the flimsy plastic bag that holds the food within the cardboard box. It's incredibly thin and easily punctured. Canisource should upgrade to a sturdier bag to help maintain freshness.

Would love to find smaller quantities.

Maggie likes it but gets bored with the same flavor. If she does not like the food, I am stuck with 6 lbs of food she will not eat. Smaller trial size packets

Maggie likes it but gets bored with the same flavor. If she does not like the food, I am stuck with 6 lbs of food she will not eat. Smaller trial size packets would be greatly appreciated. She only weighs 11 lbs so as stated, 6 lbs is a large quantity.

Great for hand feeding and training.

So far so good. My doodle seems to be doing well with it. He has stomach issues so it's nice that he's tolerating it and it's the size I needed to be able to use

Thanks Chewy for selling this high quality food. Kibbles are big and hard. Something a Rottweiler or Labrador could easily chew. I have a 14 lb Maltipoo and concerned he could break a tooth or injure his gums. He likes it though so I will try to finish this box with my picky eater. Canisource is recommended by Susan Thixton from Truth About Pet Food. I also believe the pork and lamb are his favorite flavors.

My dog is a really picky eater. He is also super active. He was not taking in enough calories and his ribs were starting to show. I tried different types of high quality Kibble and he would eat some and leave some in his bowl. I'd try different toppers but he would always eat the topper and leave the kibble in the bowl. I tried mixing the kibble with some high protein canned dog food (Purina Pro) and that got him to eat all of his food but after 2 weeks he still had diarrhea (very loose stools). I don't know if it was the quality of the canned food or maybe he was allergic to beef. I thought I would try the Canisource because it seems to be packed with protein and as a result required a much smaller serving size even compared to kibble. My dog is 63 lbs and requires 2 cups of Canisource vs 3 1/2 cups of kibble. My dog loves this stuff. It's been 4 days now and every time I feed him, he eats all of it. Stools were hard on day 1 so there was not even an adjustment period for him. Costwise, the Canisource is a less expensive option than going with Kibble mixed with canned and I believe he is getting higher quality food. Now I know he is getting the calories that he needs to sustain his weight. I'll provide and update later once I confirm that he put some weight on and his ribs are no longer showing.

We have a Frenchie with some allergy issues and were going to give this food a shot because of the human grade ingredients etc. we received it Saturday afternoon and started feeding it Saturday night. Sunday he threw it up and we got a little nervous. Today is Tuesday morning as as we reached in to scoop out his food larvae started climbing out of the food. Gross. I should have noticed the red flag packaging. It was not sealed at all. It was just in a plastic bag twisted up inside their branded cardboard box. For the cost of the product (we paid $90+ after tax) I would not have expected this. We will stick with the honest kitchen.
