Questions & Answers

11 Customer Questions

If I buy a 60L bag, would that get me thru a month? I have a large cage for 2 g.pigs and only use bedding,in half the cage and newspaper on the food side.
Answer by ChewyOct 30, 2017
This product will last depending on the size of the cage and how often the bedding is changed. Typically we encourage pet parents to change bedding weekly or as needed. Remove damp spots or soiled areas between changes and replace with fresh bedding.

Is it still okay to use as regular bedding even though it says nesting?
Answer by ChewyMay 29, 2019
This bedding can be used for nesting as well as bedding.

What is the difference between the nesting vs bedding 60L bag besides price?
Answer by ChewyMar 15, 2019
Carefresh Small Animal Nesting is 25% larger than average bedding, which makes them the perfect size for piling up and nesting.

What is the difference between Custom and Complete?
Answer by ChewyNov 08, 2018
The complete is one size, the custom comes in 2 sizes depending on the animal the bedding is used for.

Terrible Bedding

When I recieved my package it was smaller than what I can get in the store but the same price. Also the bedding was just aweful. Instead of being able to fluff it up it was just large clumps of smashed paper. Nothing soft about it for my bunny. She kicked it out of her cage!!

Favorite staple bedding

My mouse has allergies to other beddings I've tried. But this one is great. It's his main bedding. I mix 3/4 this with 1/4 aspen bedding. Its not too dusty, easily burrowed/nested in. He likes to move the larger pieces to one side of his cage and shred the smaller pieces even small to make a nest.

Prefer “Bedding”

As advertised the pieces are larger than the care fresh small animals “bedding”. We prefer the “bedding” because the pieces are softer. These pieces are a little more chunky and hard and not as comfortable.

Rabbit nesting/litter fill

These are in my auto-ship listing and used daily to keep my rabbit's litter boxes fresh. They help keep odors away and make cleaning the litterbox easy.

Smells bad?

I used to like this more than the other one because the pieces were bigger which is good for my guinea pig. However, now it seems that the pieces are super hard and when I opened the bag it smelt bad, kind of like vomit.

Garbage don’t bother

Says nesting material but is just recycled paper clumps. Works like litter but other stuff is better for that. As nesting material goes I’d be better off using shredded paper.

doesn’t absorb well

This bedding is horrible, which makes since because it was marked down so cheaply. I love a good deal so I bought a bag at the discount price. I used this bedding for my gerbils and within a week, the 40 gallon cage started smelling!!

Worst Bedding Ever- Even if You’re Cheap Like Me DONT Buy

This bedding is horrible, so now I understand why it was marked down so cheaply. I love a good deal so I bought 2 bags at the discount price. I can’t explain how rough and hard it is. It feels like compressed cardboard that was broken into chunks. You know the compressed cardboard they put around items in shipping boxes, or the drink carriers at McDonald’s? That’s the material I’m talking about. I’ll put up with ALOT to save money. But, trust me and just DONT buy it!! My bunny hates it but I can’t stand wasting money so I keep using it until it’s gone. My poor bunny
