What is the maximum tension rating on the duck weave? I have an issue with a velociraptor of a bluenose pit whom regularly snaps braided steel cable runners attached to her collar. I'm not opposed to trying this leash but it would be better to know more about it so I'd know what to expect.

Carhartt's testing standard for a shock-absorbing leash is to withstand a pull force of 150 pounds. They do exceed that, but do not have a "maximum" result on file.
Could this clipped around your waist for hands free walking/ running?

This leash is not designed to be used around the waist. It has a an elastic shock-control zone for greater flexibility, a lined handle for increased comfort, and a bottom handle for more control.
How long is the leash? 48 inches or less?

This leash measures approximately 6 feet long (72 inches).
Is this suitable for extra large, i.e. 180lb dogs? Trying to find a sturdy leash for the off chances he does lunge or pull!

Best leash design ever

This leash is designed so ingeniously. I love not having to hold onto the lead but instead clip it around my waist. The shock absorber is excellent, at least for my 8 lb Yorkie. I really am happy with this product.

Carhartt leash

I selected the three piece matching harness set for our new puppy. The leash (as shown in the photo), was supposed to have elasticity to absorb pulling shock. There was no elastic in it. It was all stretched out and at my age I need the shock absorbency. I had already taken the tags off when I noticed it. Also, I needed the leash right then. The harness was not useable at all. However, we do like the collar. The metal hardware on all pieces is really great. I have so many Carhartt products, and I am disappointed with this set.

Great quality

Very happy with the quality of this Carhartt leash. It has enough give with the stretch, that you don't get pulled. Love it!

Poor Quality

We purchased this for our new puppy as we had a similar kind of leash with the shock absorber recommended by several friends. The metal buckle near the part of the leash that clips to our dogs harness wore through the leash and split it in half within a month. Carhartt normally makes good quality stuff, this is clearly not one of them!
