Perfect fit! Need to use barrel to tighten.
I wanted to make sure I reviewed this item because there seem to be a lot of misconceptions in other reviews. At first, I had difficulty getting the gate to tighten and thought that I had to choose between one hole or another and that there was no way to tighten it further. I could not get the barrel part to rotate. At first. I discovered that it was on very, very tight and once I loosened it with the wrench and was able to spin the barrel away from me, it tightened up the gate very securely to both sides of the wall. I was initially afraid that I would break it if I forced the barrel, but it is supposed to turn. Take a wrench and turn it towards the gate away from you to loosen it the first time. It is secure and cannot be knocked over.

Easy and affordable
I don't know what all the dissatisfaction is with these gates in some of the reviews: I have a 200 year old house: Every door frame is not square, crooked, all different sizes, and I have 3 of these gates. I have a bulldog-pitt mix and he can't pop these out. (He will jump over them if he has to, we use them more to keep our rabbit out of rooms). If you use these gates properly and twist the locking nut tight enough, they are solid and they will stay put. Love the rubber pads that allow it to settle into any door-frame opening, no matter how old and bumpy and crooked they are. These are the only pressure gates that work for our home/pets and the price is fantastic. Love that I can pop them out of one frame and carry upstairs to another doorway as needed and they aren't heavy at all but still sturdy to withstand really cranking that tightening nut if you have to to get a nice tight seal.
Great gate
Ordered this for my 8 week old puppy. Gate is very well made and easy to install. Be sure to read the instructions that show how to install. It’s not hard just a bit confusing if you’ve never used this type of gate, which I had not. Fast delivery, next day!
Sub standard
This gate is the 1st product I bought from Chewy that I wasn’t thrilled with. I bought 3 and was given credit for the 2 that I hadn’t opened.
Does the job well!
We bought this to keep our 2 dogs out of a room we made up for 2 kittens we took in. It works perfect. The dogs can't get to their food and litter box and the kittens are free to come out whenever they please. Very easy to adjust and well made. I would definitely recommend this gate.
Waste money
Gate does not work. Waste time & money. Do not order.

Flimsier than a Toys R Us toy from the 90s. Piece of junk & waste of money :(
Get what you pay for
Flimsy. Easily knocked down and my guys are only 6 and 5 lbs.
