How does this attach to the wall on left side? Is it tension spring?

Both the left and right sides of this gate require mounting with included hardware as well as a drill and screwdriver.

What is the distance between the gate and the hinge looking at the right side of the gate gate in the picture? Is this suitable for a cat?

When installed, the distance between the gate and the hinge will be 2 1/4 inches which may be suitable for a cat depending on their size.

Is it easy to open and close for kids as well?

Mesh allows for slightly more security than bar gates

Works great for pets with anxiety and new introductions. We got this to fit a space that was very awkward in our hallway that other gates were proving hard to manage

Works great for pets with anxiety and new introductions. We got this to fit a space that was very awkward in our hallway that other gates were proving hard to manage. This is wonderful since we can quickly retract it to pass through. We got this when we were first introducing our cats to a new dog and it kept the cats feeling safe while doing the new introductions. It's flexibility means that our cats could sneak under it if they really tried but most times they would just jump over it. Works great for our purposes. The ability to lock it in place was also of great use to us.

Solid mesh good for extra small pets

This door has a big plus in that it makes an impenetrable barrier for my daughter’s tiny Yorkie when we’re fixing dinner and don’t want tiny paws underfoot. Big

This door has a big plus in that it makes an impenetrable barrier for my daughter’s tiny Yorkie when we’re fixing dinner and don’t want tiny paws underfoot. Big minus: While the top clip is easy to use, the bottom one is much more difficult, making it a pain to use. (There are two places to clip the gate in place, top & bottom, and there’s a bit of resistance, so that bottom clip isn’t easy to get in and even harder to get out.) Don’t recommend getting r anyone with arthritis, as you have to pull quite a bit to open, and attaching it in place can be difficult. Otherwise, it works great. Super small, motivated dogs can slip under it with only the top clip secured. I’d think it would be perfect for medium or large dogs.

The gate was easy to install. The extra spacers and long screws came in handy. The only negative I have is the plastic hooks that hold the gate in place are tight
