I see there is no added salt. Where does the salt content come from? And why have you added peppercorns to this? Dogs do not need pepper in their diet. Please explain. Thank you.

The only salt included with this broth is the salt that is naturally a part of the ingredients. Although it isn't necessarily required in a diet, there is some evidence that suggests that black peppercorn when used in small amounts can have beneficial effects in pets, just like it could help humans. Since it is the third least included ingredient in this broth, the amount used is minuscule.

How long do you have to use this once it is open?

Once the Bone Broth has been opened the shelf life will be 7 days (in the fridge).

Is this made from 100% grass fed beef or are they grass fed and then grain finished?

Caru's high standards, quality and ingredients shine through their products! Both of my senior cats love this bone broth and I've tried a lot. They are also very fussy. I add a few teaspoons in each of their meals to create a thinner consistency which helps keep them hydrated and the food easier for them to eat. Not sure if coincide, but Saffron's mobility has improved. He's a bit more active for his 16 yrs. As I only have 2 cats, I empty the contents into a few small containers and freeze them. Therefore nothing gets wasted and stays fresh. It's a Win-Win!

I emailed the company to ask about the sodium content and they got back to me right away, also gave me a lot of info about their product and a trick on how not to waste the product by freezing it into ice cubes and thaw as needed. This product helps my dog with dehydration issues and helps get her to eat.

If you are like me and prefer to make your fur baby homemade food, I found and ordered 2 boxes. I am so happy to be able to add an organic gravy to the food I make. I added 1 TBSP of wheat flour and thickened it over the stove. I then poured it into ice trays to freeze them. This way I can warm 1 or 2 in the microwave and add it to the bowl of prepared food that is ready for about 3 days of meals. My girl is loving her food more so now. I will be reordering this.
