Cat Spot health indicator is a granular plant based additive for your litter box. It comes in a bag with 3 smaller individual use packages. You simple open a package and sprinkle on the top of a clean litter box. I like the product in theory - as an easy way to check in and see how your cat is doing health wise. However if you have more than one cat there is no way to tell which one could be having possible health issues without separating them so only one cat has access to the box at a time. The granuals were larger than I expected and easy to spot when sprinkled on top of the litter. However the colors they can change to are pretty similar and can be difficult to differentiate on the ‘health test scale’.
Good idea, and cats seem unbothered.
I really like the idea of this product! It might be a good way to get a heads up that something is off before your cat tells you/starts showing symptoms of an illness
I really like the idea of this product! It might be a good way to get a heads up that something is off before your cat tells you/starts showing symptoms of an illness. I imagine it would be really good to use for a cat with chronic kidney disease. The box comes with three separate packets of granules. The granules are yellow, and will change color once your cat’s urine hits it. (Actually, I’m not sure if the change is instant or delayed?) The granules turned green for us, which is normal. One big plus is that you can sprinkle it on top of the litter you already use instead of buying new litter. My only potential negative is that the color change seems pretty minor and since the cats buried the granules, you really have to dig for them.
Not sufficient to cover litter box
When you open this package there are 3 smaller sealed packages inside, giving the impression you will get 3 separate uses. However, sprinkling just one package
When you open this package there are 3 smaller sealed packages inside, giving the impression you will get 3 separate uses. However, sprinkling just one package was not sufficient. Even after sprinkling all 3 packages it did not sufficiently cover the litter in the large box. Also one of the colors to seek vet assistance is orange but all the beads were orange. Once the cat went to the litter box he pawed the beads all around. I wasn't able to tell anything. A fine powder might work better than these beads.

I recently tried the CatSpot Litter Cat Health Indicator Litter, The product is super easy to use and gives me some extra peace of mind about my cat’s health. According to the indicator, everything checked out fine, and my cat seems perfectly normal—so I haven’t needed to follow up with a vet visit yet. I love that I can keep an eye on potential health issues just by monitoring the litter box. Definitely recommend for any cat parent who wants a simple way to stay proactive about their cat’s wellbeing!
A good idea but better to listen to your cat

I imagine this would be a good product, particularly in a single cat household, if you suspected your cat might have a bladder/kidney infection. I sprinkled it on the top of 3 of the 4 cat boxes, as prescribed, but there was no change in the product color. for a multiple cat household, as in my case, I'm couldn't be sure how to determine which cat might be ill. in addition, the product becomes integrated into the cat litter, so I think it would be still more difficult to diagnose the cat, particularly if the other cats used the same box. as one of my cats just experienced a kidney infection, I noticed she was in clear distress because of multiple trips to the cat box, one right after the other, licking her behind, and more vocalizing than usual. I like the idea of a test for UTIs, but I also think observing the cat's behavior is the first indication the cat might not be feeling well.
I like the idea, but not sure if it worked.
I was excited to try this product. Cats don't usually tell you quickly when they aren't feeling well. I added a packet to the litter and waited for the results
I was excited to try this product. Cats don't usually tell you quickly when they aren't feeling well. I added a packet to the litter and waited for the results. After my cat used their litter a very strong ammonia smell was present but I didn't see any color change. I tried it again with the same effect. My cat must be healthy.
Works well with clumping litter

I imagine this would be an amazing product for those with a history of urinary troubles. I found it difficult to differentiate the colors; however , I believe that was due to the size of my litter box. I use extra large boxes and one “serving” did not cover the surface. Great features - it doesn’t impact the clumping ability and is easy to use. I would definitely recommend it if you have a cat at risk for these health challenges.

I have 4 cats and 5 litter boxes. There were 3 packs of the cat litter health indicator so I sprinkled a pack of each into 3 of the litter boxes. The cats did use the litter boxes, and I was able to see a color change in one of the boxes. Thankfully it was green which is normal. I think this could be a very useful product if you own one cat, but when you have multiple cats, you don’t know which one used which litter box.
Not getting any color changes
I'm not sure if it's the litter I am using or something else, but I'm not seeing any colored granules when I'm scooping. I waited for a week to submit this review
I'm not sure if it's the litter I am using or something else, but I'm not seeing any colored granules when I'm scooping. I waited for a week to submit this review thinking I just wasn't catching the clumps that has granules in it. Sad because this seems like a great concept. I will try some more and update if I notice anything different.
Confusing poduct
