I used this ointment on my horse's face & leg that she scraped up. She decided to go under a fence & scraped above her eye & her leg. It seemed to work fine, except for it ran in the heat. It started out like the consistency of lotion but throughout the day in the heat, it ran down her face & leg where I treated her wounds with it. I think it has good properties for healing, but it would not be my first choice in wound care. I just did not like how it got so runny that it ran down her face. I had to clean her face up. Her wounds healed, but it was just messy in the heat of the summer. I am sure in the cold winter, it will stay a nice consistency.

I chose this product to test and review because I have a bald face Mustang with pink skin on her face and nose that gets sunburned. Recently, she has been rubbing to soothe the itch of her sunburn and created raw areas. I applied this lotion, however, it was hard to apply as it would run through my fingers before I could get it on the needed areas. When I approached her with my hand cupped to keep the lotion from running out between my fingers, she knew something was up and made it even more difficult to apply the lotion. This product contains natural oils that should provide comfort on irritated areas. I think the aroma of the lotion is a bit of a turn off for my horses. I tried it on my Cremello mini and she avoided my hand as well. I did see an improvement in the rubbed areas that got the product. I just was not able to apply it to every spot that I wanted.

It says it's a soothing ointment, but it's definitely a cream and a soothing one at that. I really like the consistency with the zinc oxide and cod liver oil and it seems to really stay on, especially for the scratches/dew poison on the pastern of one of the horses I tried it on. The smell of the product is quite strong. You can definitely smell the tea tree oil in it, but that odor fades after awhile. My one horse had his lip up when I put it on a scab on his nose. My other horse kept backing up and smelling it when I put it on a dry scab on his knee. That spot definitely was softer the next day and the next day, I could feel the moisture coming back into the skin on and around the scab. I think the Cavalor Lurax has earned a spot in my horse medicine box.

Soothing ointment and easy to apply. Good consistency, not too thick or too liquidy so it stays where applied. It does not have an overly strong scent. Seems to be helping smooth irritated skin and I like that it is made with natural ingredients. A nice addition to our tack room and good product to have on hand for when needed.

So far I love this. My horse had some bad fungus patches that turned into scabby areas. I've been putting this lurax cream on there and it has helped tremendously. It cleared up the scabs and the hair has started to grow back. He goes out all night and this cream seems to stay in place and on the skin. It isn't too thick but its not runny. I've started putting it on a couple other areas including an area on his face that had been fungus and was still missing hair. The hair has grown back nicely.

A good product!

The Lurax cream seems to work well on my cut prone horse! I just put a little cream on his cut and it heals well! It does have peppermint-ish scent to it

I used this on a chestnut mare who had cut her foreleg and the wound had scabbed over. I used it over the scab to soften and around the wound. This wound had been previously treated, cleaned and wrapped. The cream helped to reduce the scab a little and keep the area around it more supple to enhance further healing.

I have been a Cavalor fan for a long time however had never tried the Lurax Cream. I have a horse with typically summer issues on her face from sweat and she also has fair skin that burns easily. This cream really helped both issues. The Zinc Oxide is perfect for her sensitive light skin but it also is great for the areas that are irritated from sweat. I have not been using this long but i suspect it will be my go to ointment in the summer.

I've been using this product on my horse's hock sores. It's only been about 10 days but the wounds have closed up after using this product. I would like it more if it was a thicker cream than a liquid. It would be much easier to apply. Not sure if the liquidity is due to the heatwave we are experiencing right now. I do think it has helped his sores significantly. I will continue using it to get them fully healed.

The flies are brutal this year especially for my white legged mini donkey. I've started treating with a 3 pronged approach (spray, feed thru, fly predators) but had to heal the existing bites so I gave this a try. It worked well and seemed to promote quicker healing.
