If placed in a 200 micron bag and used in a box power filter, would it still work effectively?

Answer by Chewy • Apr 23, 2021
The filter media can be placed in the bag inside a box power filter if there is enough room to do so. However, if components from the filter need to be removed, it may affect the filtration ability of the unit.

Does this work for saltwater tanks?

Answer by Chewy • Feb 14, 2021
This is suitable for freshwater and saltwater aquariums.

is it safe to use with crayfish

Answer by Chewy • Jan 13, 2021
This product is ideal for tanks with heavy bioload, turtles, goldfish and other messy livestock. It is suitable for tanks with elevated phosphate and nitrate levels. Typically this means tanks that aren't cleaned/water changed as often or have been neglected for a while.

For marine tanks (which it says its for) its snake oil

This resin works on ion exchange. While this works in fresh water tanks its use is very limited to a point its laughable in reef tanks. The reason is the same reason

This resin works on ion exchange. While this works in fresh water tanks its use is very limited to a point its laughable in reef tanks. The reason is the same reason Nitrite is more or less not even looked at in reef tanks. CL- blocks the Nitrites from going into the fish gills and at the same time since CL- is more dense in the water than NO3- it competes with NO3- and the result is the resin is used up or weakened by the Cl- ions not the targeted NO3-. While it probably works great in fresh water I wouldnt know as ive only had reef tanks , anyone with a saltwater tank ignore this and the "marine use"
