About This Item

Water softener resin for freshwater aquariums only.
Developed to not release bound materials when exhausted.
Can be regenerated many times to increase value and long-term use.
Designed to lower water hardness in tropical fish and ornamental shrimp tanks.
Suitable for use in large volume storage containers, dedicated media reactors, in-tank filters or canister filters.

For Use in a Canister Filters and Sumps: Pour the desired amount of Total Softener into a 200 micron mesh media bag and close securely. Prior to use, rinse with RO/Di (reverse osmosis/deionized) or dechlorinated tap water to remove dust from storage and transport. Place into a canister filter as you would other filtration media. For use in a sump, place in an area with high flow and away from pump intake.

For Use in a Dedicated Media Reactor: Ensure your reactor is appropriate for 300 micron resins. Add the desired amount of media to your reactor. Adjust flow to gently tumble the resin.

How many ounces to add to 20 gallon fresh water aquarium?

For a 20-gallon freshwater aquarium, it is recommended to add 1 ounce of Cobalt Aquatics Total Softener Aquarium Resin for every 2 gallons of water. So for a 20-gallon tank, you would use 10 ounces of the resin.
