How often does this need to be regenerated?

Answer by ChewyFeb 09, 2025
Recharge every 3-6 months, depending on tank load and needs. Replace after 3-6 recharges.

How long does it take to start softening water? (I.e. how long would it take to drop from 200ppm to 100ppm for GH)

Answer by ChewyNov 19, 2024
The time it takes to reduce water hardness (GH) from 200 ppm to 100 ppm can vary depending on several factors, such as the flow rate of the water through the resin and the initial hardness level. However, generally, the process of softening water will begin immediately once the resin is in contact with the water.

Where does the Cobalt softener go in the fish tank or in the filter?

Answer by ChewyDec 09, 2023
This product has instructions for use in Canister Filters and Sumps; use in a Dedicated Media Reactor; and instructions for Regeneration. See product photos for more details.

Not what I expected.

With this product you have to buy the (pillow) that holds it separately and fill it yourself evidently. That was not mentioned in description. I have no idea what

With this product you have to buy the (pillow) that holds it separately and fill it yourself evidently. That was not mentioned in description. I have no idea what to do with this stuff or where to get the container for it. Quite expensive product considering it’s useless unless you have the elusive holder.

Seems to work

I don't know much about water softeners in general but it seems to have helped my tank tremendously. We have hard water in our area, so this was a last resort before

Good product for tropical fish

Works really good, softens water slow enough so as not to harm the fish & easy to recharge
