I like that my boy cat couldn't get this off until he figured out how to chew through the elastic. I repaired it but the collars were big for both cats. They need more holes for better sizing
So, the small was too small for my guy, but the large is a little too loose even on the smallest setting, but it seems to stay on him ok. We initially bought him a nylon collar, but when he grooms he grooms the collar, too, and his tongue must be super course because in a couple months the collar was so frayed I was worried it would snap off. So, we upgraded to this leather one. So far he grooms it the same way, but a month or so in and the collar has sustained no damage as a consequence of his grooming. He could also get the nylon break away collar off on his own and I was always hunting it down. He has not managed to remove this one. My guy does not go outside, so milage may vary for cats that do. He is special needs and this collar is just in case he does get out, to alert people to his immediate medical needs and provide the vet and my contact info. We hope to never need it, but knowing he has it is a stress reducer.
This is a nicer looking collar than most. I wanted it to be bright orange, as shown in the color choices, to signal that she's an indoor cat and needs to be rescued if she gets out. (It seems not many people even know about this idea so maybe it's a moot point...) It's more of a pumpkin color. I do like the elastic section for non-choke safety, which seems more secure than the breakaway collars. The holes are spaced a bit far apart so it's a bigger adjustment to go from one hole to the next, but it fits my average cat just fine. She really wants to eat the bell but has not managed to get it off yet. Overall it's a better quality good looking collar.
The collar is cute and I got the navy blue one, the color is beautiful. But this collar lasted less than a month, my baby is an indoor cat and normally I just change the collar cause I want to, not because is needed. But this collar broke cause of rusting, this is a first for me. My cat is white so it left a dark spot on his neck, don't buy it.
The small is extra small for kittens. But the details are too heavy with the bell and buckle. The bell is attached to one area and doesn't slide and there is no loop for the strap. The heavy buckle part is far from bell, which is attached with detailing. So the buckle stays near cats chin, while the bell is on top near ears. So it does not line up and looks sloppy with strap hanging loose. The blue bell and teal collar color is cute but there are major design flaws. The stretchy fabric area does nothing and the silver detailing looks nice but is too heavy for such a small collar. And the bell seems to settle right near the ears so it looks odd. Also, my kitten scratches at it and begs me to take it off so I am disappointed that I will have to get another one.
I was looking for a not- breakaway collar and unfortunately even though this one technically isn't, it basically is. My cat is adopted from the street and he still likes to go out daily to roam. The collar is to identify him among the true strays as unfortunately we have some of those. He's escaped two break away collars recently so tried this as an alternative. Unfortunately the stretch part basically makes it a break away and he managed to get rid of it the first day. I don't know where he is leaving them all but there is a pile of cat collars somewhere in my neighborhood.
The collar is nice BUT there are few issues that I am not please with - 1.) the strap is a little too long and it needs to hold the strap instead of hanging out, the left over strap did bother my kitty and he was trying to pulled off by his mouth and it get his teeth stuck by trying to get it off of his teeth. 2.) the bell on his collar got lost and it can never be fixed so I had to throw the collar away. So I would NOT suggest to buy it again.
I'm very happy with the purchase, my cat has kept it on since I put it on him, he can't take it off or lose it since it's a buckle collar and not a breakaway one.
This is not made of leather, it is "pleather" or vinyl. I was looking for a leather collar due to the reaction the plastic/stretchy collars are causing. This was in the search for a leather cat collar so beware.
I like the cat collar. All the colors that we can choose from.
