Unfortunately, the nature of Maeve's surgery (she had to have part of her ear amputated), the 'comfurt collar' didn't provide enough protection. I had to rely on the traditional 'cone of shame.' But the 'Comfurt Collar' will be in my arsenal of health care stuff to use in the future if needed. It is well made, and I think it would serve as a great form of protection in most instances. Thank you Chewy!!
Determined dog can still get to abdomen.

I like this collar, it seems well made but for my Australian Shepherd it did not work well. He had a combo neuter/abdomen surgery for prostatitis and in determination the first night home was able to still turn his head and lick near his incision. I was unable to sleep the whole night for fear of him biting out sutures. We had to go back to the classic cone to ensure he could not access his incision. Additionally he was unable to lay down comfortably with the donut on. He refused to let his head go down to the side to sleep. If I propped him up with a pillow it helped but not practical for long term use and he is supposed to be in it for 2 weeks. I don't think the donut was a bad item per se it just didn't work for us. If you want to try it because your dog hates cones I know people personally who like them, I do however recommend that you have a backup cone for just in case safety-wise!

Her neck is about 16 inches and she’s wearing the large. The collar that comes with this is adjustable which was a life saver! Willow is unable to get it off of her head!
