Helping with Heat and Joint Pain
Our girls are 59-62 Lbs. We initially tried 2 mediums, but they couldn't stretch comfortably, so we upgraded to 2 larges. They are skittish of new things, so we clicker trained them and gave them lots of treats and snacks on their "cots," and put the cots in their usual sleeping places. Once they understood (about a day of training through nerves because of the give of the surface) and were used to the unstable feeling of the cots, we let them make their own choices. Phoebe prefers her round, fuzzy bed most of the time, but is no longer intimidated by the cot, and perfectly happy to walk across it or get treats on it. Bubbles has decided both cots are hers and runs to them for treats or just for lying comfortably with her bad hips. She prefers them over the couch, round bed or floor. Chewy customer service was amazing as always about helping us get through the shopping/sizing process.
Looks great, but impossible to assemble
I read the reviews about difficult assembly but decided it wouldn't happen to me. It did. Don't be me. I bought a small size bed with an orange cover. It is physically impossible to get the 4th screw in, especially with the added distance required for the plastic bumpers. If I hand tightened the other 3 to give me enough space to maneuver for the 4th screw, inevitably, one of the other 3 would detach, and the associated plastic bumper would go flying off. If I tightened them more to prevent that, there was zero chance of maneuvering the bar over enough for the 4th screw to reach. If I got to the magical unicorn space of no other screws detaching and just enough space to maybe screw in the 4th screw, the three holes the screw needs to go through would not line up because the frame had to be twisted to achieve the potential of adding the 4th screw. I gave up and called Chewy after one of the plastic bumpers flew off and fell beneath my deck, where I can't get to it.
This bed is amazing! I got the large for my 1 year old boxer and it is bigger than I was expecting. She will be able to grow into it perfectly! I read comments about it being hard to put together so I was nervous. But once I read the directions it was a breeze! Put it together in 10 minutes. The last pole to add was a little difficult due to having to stretch the pole into place but if you take the screw out and put the pole in place you will get it! Just a little wiggling. Bed is perfect! Must get!
Our little puppy loves her bed. She is actually sleeping on it right now. It's pretty warm here and I am thinking it is cooler. She has also slept under it and chased toys under it although she is getting a little big for that now. The only issue we had was with the product label in the corner. For a puppy that is like a big flashing sign come chew on me. She only did that for a little bit and now ignores it.
good for the price
As others have said, it’s challenging to assemble. Needed help but we got it done. My girl seems to enjoy it, I’m sure she’ll love it even more when we put her blanket over it. I bought it for her to take camping with us. In the description it said “portable” but I guess they just meant it’s easy to bring inside or outside. So a little bummed that it isn’t collapsible in any way but for the price it’s a great value.
Seems very sturdy. If your strong, maybe 20 min to put together.
Nice product once I got it together. The fabric fits tight on the frame (which is good) but doesn't give any wiggle room when putting together, even with screws not set tight. I had to get any extra hand to get the 4th screw in place before I could cinch down all the screws. Other than that, I feel like it is of good quality. Sturdy, just high enough off the ground for my 18 lb pup to get up and down and I like the idea of choice of fabric colors and extra availability should I need a new one. (I chose light beige, since we are in Florida and it will be used outside.)
Nice elevated bed
For several years have used elevated beds from another website and they were ripping and becoming non-usable so I went in search of a replacement and discovered this Coolaroo on Chewy. It was a great price-so much better than what I paid for my first beds and instead of mainly plastic legs, this was all metal which is better as my puppy liked to gnaw on the plastic. It wasn't that hard to put together-I'm an old woman and I did it by myself in less than 20 minutes. I would have preferred a different color (I got the green) to match my family room but went for the lowest priced one. I originally got the large and went back and got a medium as well. Both my dogs love these new beds and hopefully they will last at least a couple of years before needing replaced but if it's sooner, I won't be too upset as I paid very little for them.
We tried to put together on the floor, then I watched the video and moved everything to the dining room table. Once we put it there, we were able to stretch the fabric enough so that we could assemble it. It was a little tricky and I almost wanted to pack it all up and return it, BUT we got it! My husband helped me to hold it all steady, and now I think our dog will enjoy it out on the back deck when we are out there, too. Don’t give up!
What I needed
This is just what I needed for my shihtzus. It went together without any glitches. If you decide to cut off the legs as I did to shorten, I recommend cutting BEFORE putting it together. I didn’t think of this until after the fact. My dogs are 17 and not able to jump anymore so they won’t use it. I’ll need to take it apart to cut the legs off. It’s nice that you have this option. Air still will pass underneath to keep them cool. Also I’m going to order an extra cover for when this one wears out.
What a joke
Chewy should be ashamed to allow such garbage OR at least tell customers that it's been proven that it doesn't go together correctly and modifications have to be made. Never been so disappointed. I thought other reviews were exaggerating when they said it doesn't not line up . I had to drill my own hole 1 1/2 in from the pre-made hole.
