I found this product for my 28 year old mustang who loves it and does great on it. The owner for this product is amazing and spent time talking to us and helped us learn more. Highly recommend any of their products. Wish our local feed stores carried them.
I highly recommend this for senior horses. My last horse was in his early 20's, was still doing 4th level dressage, and looked amazing for his age. His coat shined & perfect amount of weight. He did not look like he was in his 20s. He used to get 2-3 large scoops of Purina Senior to maintain his weight 2-3x times a day & never finished his meals. With the DDE Senior, he got 1 scoop 3x a day, soaked in water, and he loved it. If it is really wet & soaked, it can make a mess around their feed bins if they are sloppy eaters, but it's a small price to pay that is worth it for a healthy horse.
My horse is over 30 years old with many teeth that are missing. He is unable to chew grass and hay well enough to get the necessary nutrients. The grass and hay get balled up in his mouth and he spits it out. He came to me five years ago, skinny and depressed. I found Daily Dose Senior Feed and now his weight is fantastic; he's shiny, affectionate and happy. I mix warm water in to his feed. The texture of the feed makes it so much easier for him to eat. It smells so good and he loves it. I feel so blessed to have him and I highly recommend this feed!
I'm feeding this to a 27 year old miniature horse who is having dental issues. My vet recommended moistening his food and that's what I've done with this. He looks amazing and has even put on some weight. Just so happy with his appearance and his vitality. I've tried several different senior feeds but this one works the best for him.
I've fed this grain for years and love it! Can feed it dry or wet. I've offered it dry to horses to nibble at throughout the day or wet if you want them to eat it right away. Add as much or little water as you want, can be made the consistency of thick mashed potatoes to soup, depending on how much water is added. Currently feeding right now to a 28 year old and 32 year old ottb.
When I opened the bag, the room filled with delicious smells. We wet the feed so that my senior gets more hydration. He has gained weight in all of the right places, has dapples on his coat and acts like a youngster again. I couldn't be happier.
I mix this feed with water and it creates a perfect mash in seconds. My seniors and even my other horses prefer it to whole grains now. I feel like there should be some recommendation on the bag to mix it with water though. I tried to feed it dry at first and the horses wouldn’t eat it- it’s very dry/small particles otherwise. However, adding water to it makes a perfect meal for an older horse or hard keeper.
It is like saw dust and they will not eat it all four of them. Even the glutton, he nibbled it and left it I bought it for him since he’s very old and a hard keeper.
