I decided to try a different brand of dental chew. My dog was not really enthused the first time I gave her one but eventually ate it. THat night she was sick, could not seem to get comfortable, lethargic, would not eat. I fear it did not digest and she felt ill. By morning she was ok again but I will not chance giving her this treat again. Perhaps not easily digestible. It could have been something else she ate in the yard, etc, but that was the new food item I knew she ate.
These actually make a big difference in the breaths of my greyhounds. They don't upset the stomach of my dog who is very sensitive. My very picky eater likes them too (normally he won't eat a treat if it doesn't have a cheese or meat base). My only wish is that they would take longer to get through but 60lb dogs like mine chew through most things pretty fast.
My new dane can be a little picky on what she likes. my last 2 danes and my basset all have loved these and Hazel seems to have followed suite! she gets excited when i ask if she wants her bone. i can see a different in the plaque on her canine teeth, starting to decrease, and we are about half way in a bag. so 8-10/ 1 a day.
My dog gets one of these right before bed each night and it is the one treat that she will remind me of (the stare) if I forget. She really loves them. She is a 40# Boxer mix with a terrible bite. These are not real hard so I don't know how much good they do though her teeth are much better than when I first adopted her 2 years ago. My trick is to buy the large dog size and break them in half (again, they are not real hard). By doing that she gets a bit more coverage/friction against her teeth, & gets slowed down a bit, rather than wolfing down the smaller sizes. She would love a whole one but I think 1/2 of a large is enough for a dog her size. I limit treats here but I was in a bit of a panic when our local store stopped carrying these because they are definitely her favorite of all treats.
My dog is crazy for these. She was living on the streets and starving during her early years, so her teeth didn't develop properly for "hard" chews, and she is very picky about her chew treats. These are just hard enough to provide cleaning, without being too hard for her. This is her "Bye Bye Treat" when I leave for work, and she loves them so much, She literally charges to her kennel to get one, when I pull them out.
I have been buying these for years, but in this economy, the only sacrifice I've made on these is that instead of buying the medium, I buy the large and break them in half.
I have 2 husky's and 2 Papillons and all of them really love these. One of my Papillons only has a few teeth left and she almost never wants any type of chews, but she loves these. Highly recommended.
Dog seemed to like it. This is my first bag. I’m not sure if I’ll get another one or not. I’d like to know before I spend that kind of money, if it’ll help his teeth.
I've been getting these and feeding one every day and have been able to see an actual visible difference in my dogs' teeth. I don't think I've left a review here in Chewy yet but these motivated me to do so!
I've given my Husky other ones and she would take them and then go bury them in the sofa or some other odd place and eat them later. She just didn't seem thrilled with any I tried. So at Christmas time my granddaughter works for a vet in FL and she gave her some of these and she absolutely loves them. She politely takes them from me and immediately goes and lies down to eat these. They have worked very well on her teeth and breath. Thanks for another great product.
