Instructions
  1. Place template in desired position on door and draw round it. (We recommend the bottom of the hole is approximately level with your pet’s stomach.)
  2. Use an electric jig-saw to cut along inside of drawn line. Be careful to cut hole square to the door, particularly with thicker doors. Ensure frames are free-fitting in hole.
  3. Determine thickness of door panel (t).
  4. If necessary, cut interior frame (frame without swinging flap) to correct length with sharp knife. Keep hands clear of blade and support inside of moulding with a suitable piece of wood.
  5. For door panels 0 - 7/8 inches thick
  6. Position interior frame on inside of door and mark four screw positions.
  7. Remove frame and drill screw clearance holes in panel to approximately 3/16 inch diameter.
  8. Select appropriate screws.
  9. Position exterior frame on outside of door. Screw interior frame to it by using appropriate screw for panel thickness (t) (see Fig. 8). Finally, fit screw caps.
  10. For door panels 7/8 inches+ thick
  11. Drill out four screw holes in exterior frame to allow close clearance on screws. (Recommended drill 3/16 inch diameter).
  12. Screw interior frame on inside of door, using short 1/2 inch screws.
  13. Screw exterior frame on outside of door using 3/4 inch screws. Finally, fit screw caps.

Kitten learned in 7 days with help

    By on

The litter box is on a screened in porch. Our kitten was 6 months old at the time. When she meowed to go out we would gently shove her through the door. This was morning and night for a week. It was a pain but worth it. The door closes flush 90% of the time. This doesn’t bother me as it’s from our kitchen to a screened porch. I live in Atlanta so our winters are mild compared most elsewhere. My husband installed this and confirms the door needs to come off the hinges to do this right. He tried doing it with the door on and quickly figured out it wouldn’t work. Our door is 2 inches of solid wood. I bought the install kit to go with it. It wasn’t necessary but nice to have. Purrfect kitty door!

    By on

So happy with this purchase! It was a snap to install, looks great and it has solved two major problems: the dog getting into the finished basement where the cat litter house is and having to let the cat in and out when she needs to go down there to do her business. Love this door!

    Peace at Last!

    By on

I purchased two of these doors and had them installed in the bedroom doors of my house. Now my cats are free to roam the house and I can sleep in peace! No more scratching at the door or clawing the carpet. I should have done this years ago!

    Cats won’t use it

    By on

This was more involved installing in a metal door but we got it done. Now, our cats won’t use it! We have tied up the flap to leave it open otherwise they won’t go in or out. They will just have to get use to it !

    nice door!

    By on

We ordered this door from Chewy when a major online sales merchant sent us a cheap imitation, and not the Cat Mate door that we ordered from them. This door feels solid, and fit our door opening needs. If I have any negatives to say about it, I'd prefer an easy way to remove the swinging door temporarily, while the cats get used to going through this new opening location. We ended up just taping it open for now, and the cats are using the door access with no issues. Chewy delivers everything we order so quickly, customer service is Wonderful, and you always get the exact product you order.

    Who Let the Cats Out.

    By on

My last cat door lasted longer than the door did! I checked out several models, some in the "hundred $ and up" category. Surprisingly, the one that seemed the best to me was only in the $20.00 range! And guess what!!!¡¡ It was the same exact cat door I had before!! Looks like I won't be needing to replace it for another 19 years!

    Sturdy Pet Door

    By on

This is one of many pet doors we have used. It was really easy to install in our outside shed. It is airtight so the cold weather does not get through. Only four stars due to the fact that I am not too sure my cat can push through the door as the magnetic catch is very strong! Other than this, the size of the door is perfect for an average cat and it is well made.

    Not recommended

The lock tabs are too fragile and do not operate smoothly. One broke the first week. Additionally when tabs are set for in only and locked for out the cats (smart ones) can open the door by pulling it open. If you want to ensure that the cats are locked in a sliding panel is much more reliable.
