My doodle girl was the runt of a huge litter and has struggled with allergies her entire 6 years of life, constantly battling yeasty paws, ears, and skin. It has been a full time job trying to find the magic combo of food, supplement, and medication… We’ve tried them ALL, and while some have been better than others, she has never been completely symptom free. Her latest (and worst) yeast infection-turned-bacterial-infection, complete with red, flaky elephant skin patches from muzzle to booty happened while on prescription food costing over 100 dollars/bag. After applying antibiotic cream to my girl yet again, I sat down with teary eyes to ‘go back to the drawing board’ researching foods to try. I found Dr. Gary’s Coldwater and one other brand that had promise in their ingredients list, so I put them both in my cart to choose between. Dr. Gary’s won the coin toss, and she has been on it for a little over a week. Let me say that something just feels DIFFERENT this time around. The skin in her ears is WHITE for the first time… ever. She’s not licking her paws, and while I haven’t given her a bath since starting the food, she SMELLS BETTER. She’s playful. She’s loving. She’s HAPPY. And I’m holding my breath, praying it continues and Dr. Gary’s never stops making the Coldwater recipe!!!
I have a highly food-motivated Golden Retriever. We use 3 different slow feeders per meal to slow his eating down because he loves food SO much! He's never been a picky eater (will eat dirt if we don't stop him) and yet he will not eat this food unless he's desperately hungry. In the past, he would never leave his food until he licked up every last bit, but with this food, he walks away shortly after we give it to him and won't return for hours. Very unlike him. I guess he just doesn't like this food. It's a shame because the ingredients are SO wholesome.
This has been our Border Collie's food for a couple of years, and early on, it seemed it couldn't be a better fit for our dogs. That said, when the recipe changed, removing Atlantic Salmon from the ingredients, and labeling, it was no longer a good fit for our BCs. Now the dogs need far, far more prep time to do their business, it's been several months and they haven't gotten used to it. Adding insult to injury, the cost was just increased noticeably. So, we're done Dr. Gary's Holistic Salmon, mainly due to the recipe change.
My Bernese Mountain Dog suffered from skin and stomach allergies. We tried other sensitive skin/tummy kibbles but they didn't help. Dr Gary's has been a game changer! I'm happy to feed my lap baby this kibble. Can't go wrong feeding human grade ingredients AND no recalls ever. It's a great company
Really wanted to like this food for my dogs, because of the ingredients. I kept them on it for about 2 months, but unfortunately they just couldn’t adjust to it. Diarrhea a couple times a week sometimes.
Our Beagles' food was discontinued at Vets. Our daughter is feeding her Vizsla Dr. Gary's, so we ordered it for our 15 year old dog. She is very happy with this food and her allergies are so much better.
Our were good with this dry dog food -i on the other hand did not like the strong fish smell. However I knew it was good dog food because it did smell .
Just a great diet My dogs all do great on it!
Our dog LOVES this particular flavor! He's been on several flavors of Dr. Gary's for most of his life, but with this flavor he's constantly sniffing the unopened bags and trying to steal mouthfuls out of his food bin. It seems to be his favorite. It also gives him a really shiny coat, it's almost like he glows sometimes (he's a white dog). So happy with this brand and this flavor!
We have a 5 year old Labrador retriever. We have CONSTANTLY battled with skin dryness, yeasty smell, and yeast in ears. We have tried every dog food brand under the sun and I have read 92827373929 reviews trying to find a permanent solution to his skin/yeast issues. We have tried lab formulation food, grain free, lamb and oatmeal, beef, literally EVERYTHING. I stumbled across Dr. Gary’s fish formula on one of my million google searches for dog food formulated for dogs with skin/yeast issues. I decided we might as well try it as nothing else has done the trick and I’m tired of seeing our boy suffering. Holy Cow!!! Literally in 2 weeks, his skin had dramatically decreased in redness on the belly, no more scaly flakes on back, no more scratching, and his ears are perfectly clear! Oh, and he smells SO MUCH BETTER. No more constant soured smell. I 100% recommend Dr. Gary’s in this formula for those looking for some relief for skin and yeast issues. Oh and our dogs love the food which is an added bonus
