Will it still work if my dog keeps licking the area I apply it to?

Dr. Maggie Skin Care Ointment is lick safe and non-toxic. Most dogs do not like the taste, as it is a little bitter. We would suggest bandaging up the area if possible to avoid licking and also require less applications. The product will still work, however if the dog licks, then you may need to apply the product more often.

Cleanse affected area thoroughly; apply every 3-4 hours, or as needed. If condition worsens or does not respond, consult your veterinarian.
Will this burn my cat if used on open sores?

Dr. Maggie Skin Care Ointment is an antibacterial first aid ointment for cuts, bites, and hot spots on dogs and cats. The Skin Care Ointment does not sting. It is soothing even to very irritated skin.
Can I use this around my dogs eyes?

The manufacturer does not recommend using the ointment near the eyes as it may ooze into the eye and cause irritation.

Didn't Help

I was super excited to try this for my cat because if he licked it off, it wouldn't hurt him. However, the tube was hard to use, and the ointment was very thick. The tube was only 1/2 full too. All and all no success at easing my cat's itch either. Gave it 2 stars because it's nontoxic and smelled good.

ABRASION HEALED

REFERRED BY CHEWY VET TO THIS PRODUCT FOR OUR DOG WITH IVDD AND HAVING ABRASIONS TO HER PAW. SHE WAS NOT OPPOSED TO THE OINTMENT AND IT WAS EASY TO USE. MINOR LICKING BY THE DOG AND IT DID NOT SEEM TO DETER THE HEALING PROCESS. THANKS SO MUCH.

Smells good but doesn’t work for acne

I really had high hope in this as the ingredients look pretty natural and harmless. I put this on my cat’s acne for a few days. The ointment actually made it worse. the oily residue was also very difficult to remove when I finally realized that it wasn’t helping.

Highly Recommend This Ointment!

I have a cat who goes every 3 mos. for steroid and antibiotic shots due to the fact his chin would become almost raw from scratching and rubbing against EVERYTHING! I have tried every treatment out there with the hope of getting him off the steroids and antibiotics. I didn't expect much from this ointment and I was so pleasantly surprised by how quickly it worked to restore his skin. The added bonus is that he ACTUALLY likes it and I don't have to "pin him down" to treat his chin AND he has stopped the rubbing cycle! The only other topical treatment that worked somewhat (but not this well) was Chlorhexidine wipes which made him run and hide. So happy to have found this!!!

Really Helped my Kitty

My Kitty was having "cat acne" that kept returning. The vet gave a product that was steroid spray and it kept returning...a little worse. This ointment actually healed the skin and she did not run away when I went to apply it!

My cat thinks it's catnip

Was really excited about this because it's natural, but my cat must love the smell and taste bc he licks it off immediately, and off of my fingers. Bummer. Also it is thick but if you rub your fingers together it loosens pretty quick so that hasn't been an issue.

Best for ya buck??

Only problem i have with this is the price.. but its similar to a&d/neosporin.. its worth it.. been using on my pups scabby dry skin cuts his getting..

It’s Working!

My dog has been licking his paws for quite awhile. I called Chewy and they suggested this ointment. I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks and he doesn’t seem to be in as much distress.

Phenomenal product!

My dog has a pretty bad flea rash because he’s allergic, even though he doesn’t have fleas. I couldn’t find anything that works & I have tried everything. I love that this medication stays on even if he licks, the package even says “lickable” lol. Squeezed right out into my hand and is very easy to work into the skin. It feels like an oatmeal face mask. He seems very soothed, I will leave a comment on this review in about a week with an update on if it continues to soothe him!
