About Dr. Tim's Dog Food

Premium All-Natural Pet Foods and Treats

Dr. Tim's offers honest, nutritionally sound kibble, wet foods, dietary supplements and freeze-dried treats designed for every life stage. The high-quality ingredients include low-ash protein along with the right blend of carbohydrates, fats and fibers to allow your pet to lead a healthy life.

Foods Made to Match Your Pet

When shopping for Dr. Tim's pet foods, you'll notice the labeling indicates an activity level. That's because they're made to complement your pet's lifestyle, with ideal ratios of protein, fat, carbohydrates and fibers to help her thrive. You'll find recipes that are specially formulated for active pets, low-key pets, extreme athletes and those in need of weight management.

ACTIVE:

This food is designed for the sporting dog that's active more days than not—dogs who hunt or jog every day, herding dogs, police dogs and the like. It's made for maximum digestion, an important consideration for these dogs that's often overlooked. Protein types and levels, fat types and levels, and fiber sources are formulated to maximize performance and recovery.

CASUAL LIFESTYLE:

This is a diet intended for the dog who lives a normal lifestyle—sleeping on the couch, running around the backyard or going on car rides, walks or hikes and basically just living the good life. The only regular exercise she might get is tail wagging when she sees you at the end of the day, or some loving nose nudges

EXTREME ATHLETES:

This food is for dogs who are serious about working nearly every day for long periods of time, such as sled dogs and dogs who hunt most days of the season. It's extremely high in fat, high in protein and low in carbs, with the highest levels of essential omega-3 fatty acids and loads of antioxidants. Performance, endurance and recovery are all enhanced.

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT:

This diet is intended for the dog who has put on some extra weight. High protein allows your overweight dog to be more active, and moderate fat allows her to feel satiated so she doesn't beg—an essential part of the equation. The omega-3 and antioxidant profiles help reduce the inflammatory stress that's prevalent in an overweight dog, too

Treats That Deliver

Dr. Tim's freeze-dried treats are formulated for both cats and dogs—perfect for multipet households. They're made from 100% real, USDA-inspected meats from Wisconsin. And since they're freeze-dried, you can give your pet all the nutrition and flavor of raw meat without any of the mess or inconvenience.

Top It Off With Nutrition

Dr. Tim's Flavor Booster is made of 100% real, USDA-inspected beef liver powder from Wisconsin that is freeze-dried to maintain more nutrients. It's perfect for use as a food topper to encourage pets to eat and enjoy their meals, which makes it a great choice for finicky dogs or those who are ill or tired of the same formula.

About Dr. Tim's

As a veterinarian and accomplished musher, Dr. Tim Hunt understood his dogs' need for a food that promotes stamina, endurance and performance through proper digestion. Armed with a cement mixer, a cache of ideas, and an aversion for other diets on the market, Dr. Tim took to his Michigan garage on a mission to formulate a food that replicated a natural, wild diet for his Alaskan Huskies. Today, Dr. Tim's focus has since expanded to bring an honest, nutritionally sound food—sourced only from North America's highest quality ingredients—to every dog.

Questions & Answers

What size is the Kibble? I have a 5lb Dog Who needs an allergy friendly food.

Answer by ChewyJul 08, 2019
This kibble is close to the size of a large green pea.

How many cups are in a 30 lb bag?

Answer by ChewyJul 25, 2018
There are 20 cups in the 5 pound bag and 120 cups in the 30 pound bag.

In buying the larger bags of kibble, how long would the food stay fresh after opening (assuming food is stored properly). Asking for smaller breeds to ascertain how long food would last & if we would be able to use it up before going bad, when buying larger bags.

Answer by ChewyApr 07, 2018
Ideally dry kibble should be consumed within 6 months of opening. If it is stored in an air tight container that time may be extended.

Is this product still good for all life stages? Dr. Tim's website has labeling that lists the product as only Adult and Senior. Then in their description they state that its good for all, except large breed puppies.

Answer by ChewyMar 13, 2018
Dr. Tim's Grain-Free Kinesis Formula is a complete and nutritious kibble for dogs of every age, shape and size.

How has the price doubled in the last year?! I’m so upset. I’ve had auto subscription on for this bag for years now. It’s the only thing I feed my dogs. Guess I have to look at other brands and turn off my subscription. I’m not going to pay almost double for the same bag

Not sure why the $30 price increase

i've been using this product for about 2 years and when i started it was $70, now it's almost $100 for the same exact stuff. Doesn't seem right.

Anal Gland Help

I started my dog on this food because it is advertised to address anal gland issue. I’ve tried several different products because she had an anal gland rupture

I started my dog on this food because it is advertised to address anal gland issue. I’ve tried several different products because she had an anal gland rupture a few months ago. I can definitely see a firmer, bulkier stool as a result of feeding Dr Tim’s. She readily devours the food. I’m now offering it as one of the three meals she is fed daily. It seems to be beneficial.

For dogs with anal gland issues

Switched to this dog food to help combat my dogs anal gland problem. He is a 75 lb coon hound, 2 yrs, who has frequent issues of his anal gland leaking disgusting fluid, always when he is relaxing on the couch being the goodest boy. This problem occurred on at least a weekly basis, and caused him to be unable to enjoy the couch (where he gets the most attention and peace laying down) on a frequent basis due to a problem he can't control. It would take us so much time just to clean off the cushions.. it caused so much stress for myself and my partner, as his high energy is enough to deal with, so its really important to us he can relax and not feel punished when hes being good. He would get embarrassed every time, and have this shameful look on his lil face. He didn't understand:( After hearing this dog food helped others, I've been feeding my dog this food for the last month. He hasn't had anal gland issues for the most part since changing to this food, except for one time, and I believe this was due to a neighbor feeding him a bunch of chicken without permission (high protein/fat intake is linked to anal gland issues in dogs). So far, I have faith in this food and will continue to purchase unless I start to notice a pattern of his glands still acting up without any other changes in diet which can be directly related to the food.

BUYER BEWARE

I switched to this dog food after reading it’s recommendations for dogs with anal gland issues. I slowly introduced the food by mixing with current food. Both dogs

I switched to this dog food after reading it’s recommendations for dogs with anal gland issues. I slowly introduced the food by mixing with current food. Both dogs seemed to like it. By the time it was mostly this dog food one dog did not eat it for 2 days. On the 3rd day he did. That night he had explosive diarrhea that lasted 30hours. He spent yesterday at urgent care. He was diagnosed with gastroenteritis (inflammation of stomach and intestines) caused by dietary indiscretion. Thankfully, he is going to be okay. He is on meds and a special diet for 5days. This food can reek havoc on your dog’s digestive system.
