Crumbles

I have been purchasing these black soldier flies for a long time because they are produced in the USA and my animals love them but this time it was mostly crumbles

I have been purchasing these black soldier flies for a long time because they are produced in the USA and my animals love them but this time it was mostly crumbles and less soldier fly larvae. Not a happy camper. I hope they haven’t changed this permanently.

I bought this for a friend who has chickens who lay the eggs I get. Saw Black Soldier Fly Larvae advertised for Better egg production and better tasting eggs. Protein

I bought this for a friend who has chickens who lay the eggs I get. Saw Black Soldier Fly Larvae advertised for Better egg production and better tasting eggs. Protein from bugs is a lot more nutritious as well as better tasting yolk.

inconsistent product

I have ordered a few bags of these in the past few months. There are no consistency in this product. Every time they look different. Sometimes they are very large

I have ordered a few bags of these in the past few months. There are no consistency in this product. Every time they look different. Sometimes they are very large and fatty and sometimes they are smaller and lighter color. This time there were some mix that seemed burnt and the color were like charcoal black. Usually they are all uniform either all smaller and lighter color (my preference) and sometimes they are huge. but this time there were large, small and black and brown.

Chicks are fine with them. Not bad overall, but they're hollow like most other brands in this price range. I like that they are from the USA and not sprayed.

The chickens love these treats. Both the laying flock and the teenagers we hatched this year come running when they see/hear the treat bucket, and always go for

The chickens love these treats. Both the laying flock and the teenagers we hatched this year come running when they see/hear the treat bucket, and always go for the grubs before anything else we’re giving them. Having the extra protein also helps offset the space limitations we have for their run, as we are not able to let them fully free range so they don’t have as much access to bugs as they would. I always feel better about giving them soldier fly larvae than I would about something they wouldn’t be finding/eating otherwise. Simple ingredient diet, happy chickens - everyone wins!
