Gravel is an important part to maintaining a healthy aquarium. Natural aggregate elements not only beautify your aquarium but will provide a surface of growth for beneficial bacteria. Beneficial bacteria growth is important as it aids in converting fish waste to non-toxic levels. Natural aggregates contain no polish or color finishes. Rinsing gravel to remove excess dust and dirt is recommended before use.
I really like these, look good in my fish tank and I like them better than small gravel
Let me start off by saying these pebbles are exactly what I've been looking for as a beautiful natural alternative to the typical aquarium gravel. The 20lb bag perfectly covered my 20 gallon long tank. The pebbles are smooth, the perfect (not too big or small) size, and look amazing in my tank! Now the down side. After reading some reviews of the gravel needing to be prewashed (which I would have done regardless), I took extra care in not only soaking them over night but thoroughly washing them by hand in a strainer for several minutes in small batches. After setting up my tank, I added the water and let it settle for 2 days because the water was very cloudy. Despite the time, new filter, and water treatment the water never cleared up. leaving my tank with a dreary foggy look to it. So after several days of work, I'm now going to have to drain the tank and refill it. Hopefully after all this it won't be cloudy, because I really like this gravel and don't want to waste anymore time or money on getting new gravel. I'll update after the water change.
I really like these rocks. They are not that shiny black but they look beautiful in a fish tank. They look natural. I am happy with the purchase.
I really like these stones in my fish tank. They aren’t black but more of a deep gray and yes a couple of the stones are brown. I rinsed these when I got them and it still fogged up my tank but that went away after a night. The stones are bigger than traditional tank gravel that I see in most tanks but I think that’s neat. The bag was smaller than a 20lb bag at the pet store because these stones are larger and therefore heavier. One bag took care of one ten gallon and a half of another but I had a small bag from a pet store of those neon glow rocks to make my little girl happy- I don’t think it would completely do two ten gallons unless you prefer less gravel at the bottom of your tanks.
these look soooo good. i put these in my aquarium because im not too fond of how gravel or sand substrate looks and i am very impressed. it looks so clean. there were two white pebbles in my bag but i actually like it and think its cool. these are also great for anchoring tubing and plants! i highly recommend this.
Not happy at all. I ordered the bigger stones and recived the small pebbles. 1 bag was busted open. Not a happy camper at all.
If you get these for your 55 gal. tank, you need at least 3 bags, more if your tank is larger. I use an under gravel filter and 2 HOB powered filters. They look good in the tank...
They aren’t black, but rather a darker grey. Not issues with broken ones. We did wash before adding to the tank. We like the look!
I really like these rocks they were exactly what I was looking for. However, while washing off the excess dust I got a few cuts. There was a rather large piece of glass I hadn't seen in the hiding in between the rocks. I was surprised. I wished they took more care in assuring such harmful substances don't make it to their final product. The rocks themselves are very nice.
These rocks are nice and smooth, what I was looking for to be kinder to my cory cats’ barbels, but the rocks are definitely not even close to black, so I just can’t give them five stars. The stones are larger than your average aquarium gravel, which is kind of a neat aesthetic, so that’s cool. I just really really wish they were darker. The photo was taken under my LED tank light on its lowest setting.
