Is this brand of gravel coated with anything, or is it truly natural gravel?
Answer by • Apr 19, 2019
This gravel is 100% natural.
Can these really be used for aquariums? I bought some for my 20 gal and am washing/rinsing them and a film is coming off floating in the water. I have soaked rinsed several times.

Polished pebbles are coated with paraffin wax. Darker colors may fade over time depending on sun exposure and water use. If used in aquariums, please be sure to rinse and clean before adding to any tank application.
I've bought this gravel before and LOVE it! My question is, how many 20lb bags would I need for either a 55 gallon, or a 100 gallon, aquarium?
Answer by • Sep 08, 2018
A 55 gallon aquarium will need 110 pounds of gravel or 5.5 x 20 pounds bags if you'd like a 2 inch layer of gravel. If you'd like a 1 inch layer, you'll need 55 pounds of gravel or 2.75 x 20 pounds bags.
A 100 gallon aquarium will need 100 pounds of gravel or 5 x 20 pounds bags if you'd like a 1 inch layer of gravel. If you'd like a 2 inch layer, you'll need 200 pounds of gravel or 10 x 20 pounds bags.
Would this be safe for something like Kuhli loaches? I’m getting plants and loaches and while I’m not concerned about the plants, I know loaches need really smooth gravel if they can’t be put on sand. Would this be smooth enough for them to safely live on?
Answer by • Jul 08, 2019
The size of the gravel might not be suitable for Kuhli loaches. Sand is the preferred substrate for these fish, but small smooth gravel will also suffice.
