Center strap will self-loosen if there's any weight in the saddlebags (eg, small water bottles). Not ideal, especially for longer hikes or when the pup is running. Chewy was great about handling the return, shoutout for great customer service!
Unfortunately as much as I liked this, my poor dog did not. It rubbed her raw under her front 'armpits'. It needs more padding. I loved the front and back leash attachments. I need this for her. The pouches hold a water bottle. But too much rubbing and chafing.
After ordering a size too small, Chewy replaced my order and we have a perfect fit! Plenty of room for adjustments in the future and it held water bottles on each side plus some odds and ends. Worked just like a harness for leashing, and maybe even better because it has a wide V for her breast which is easier on her when she pulls too much. Great product! I hike trails .
This says it fits girth up to 50"....It does not. My Saint is 48" in girth...this is about 6" short of making it around her chest with the straps extended to their fullest. I'm so disappointed. This is the second back pack that is for "giant breeds". She is a small Saint. Only 140lbs...much smaller than our male who is 160lbs and has a girth even wider!
I bought a medium (make sure you get size measurements) for my 100 lb GSD. I absolutely love it for him because he can pull if he sees a squirrel and this harness won't allow him. As he gets more familiar with it- I will add a little weight to wear him out.
Bought this to take hiking this spring. Netting at the top of the pack ripped in 20 minutes. Only had a 16 oz bottle of water in each side of the pack. It is unfortunate, I thought for the price it would be well made.
This was one of the more expensive packs but it is well worth the cost. It is attractive, easy to harness, stays on exceptionally well, holds lots of items- including water bottles, manages air moisture and creek crossings, and is lightweight enough for a senior dog. We get compliments every time we are on the trail.
I live near a nature center that has about 5 miles of trail. I am able to put a bowl and a couple bottles of water. Finn walks without an issue. I took someone's advice and measured him. My 80lb dog is in a med. So take the time and measure your dog.
this far exceeded my expextions. very pleased with the product. made with durable material.
It fitted it to my Daniff ( Ozzy ) with ease and we immediately went for a short test hike to make sure the fit was good and that it didn’t hinder any of his movements. He not only had no discomforts with this well made product but he acted like he won a prize when I put it on him! He loves it and I couldn’t be happier to let him carry his own snacks and H2O bladder on our hikes!
