Feed an average size Adult cat 1 can per 3 lbs of body weight daily. Feed up to twice this amount to kittens. Pregnant or nursing cats may require 2 - 4 times their normal feeding.
When introducing a pet to a new food, we recommend a gradual change over a 10 day period. Start by feeding 90% of their old food and 10% of Fancy Feast. Each day, increase their portion of Fancy Feast by 10%, while decreasing their old food until 100% of their meal consists of their new food.
I have been purchasing this particular kind of Fancy Food for some time now for my cats who have to take medications. They liked the taste, and the smell of the fish hides the pills. I noticed the last couple of times I ordered this that the fish looked old, it was brown and dried out, there were fish skin and bones in the food like someone had just chopped up a fish and threw it into a can. I thought I would give this kind one more try since my cats used to enjoy it so much and it worked so well with pill giving, but this last order contained far too many bones to pick out and some of the fish was quite hard and sharp (it had a plastic like texture.) I did not feel comfortable giving this to my cats, so I disposed of it. Every can I opened was the same. I opened another brand of Fancy Feast today (FF Gourmet Naturals Beef flavor) and saw bits of the can had come off from the bottom interior of the can and were floating in the food. I did not notice this until my cats had already eaten some of it. I hope they won't suffer any health effects from this. I lost quite a bit of money purchasing this cat food and I would encourage you to avoid Fancy Feast at all costs. The quality is the worst I have ever seen for the price. I have had bad experiences with Purina before, from their Purina One dry food making my cats vomit constantly, to contacting the company and them being evasive when I asked them questions, and now this - I am done with Purina for good now.
I started ordering from Chewy.com on the recommendation from a friend several years ago. I really began to rely on Chewy about 1-1/2 years ago when I found it difficult to find the moist food my cats enjoy at the local pet stores I patronized. Chewy has never let me down. My cats are FINICKY, FINICKY, FINICKY. One day they'll eat a brand; the next time, they won't. I've had to experiment to find foods they will like consistently. Chewy has those brands. Sadly, everything has become more expensive, but that's life. The convenience Chewy offers can't be beat. I prefer "brick and mortar" stores, but they just don't have the brands that I buy with any consistency. So, Chewy wins. Thanks, Chewy! (Oh, and my cats love this particular flavour. Usually, they only like pate, but this one they still go crazy for. The only thing is, it dries out quickly but that's not Chewy's fault.)
Had an older cat diagnosed with diabetes. Switched her to 1 can 2x a day and after a few months she went into complete remission and lived her last few years happy and without insulin shots. She LOVED this food. Fancy feast has some great 0 to very low-carb wet foods.
We didn't know what to get my new cat so my sister picked her up some of this food and I tried her on all sorts of other foods even the more expensive and I keep coming back to this one because she absolutely loves it that texture the smell the look of it it's all real fish and she absolutely loves it I would give it a try if I were you and you won't go back to anything else
I have a cat who may potentially have an intolerance to chicken so I've been on a journey to find an affordable food with no chicken and it has been a journey! This is (I believe) the only Fancy Feast product that doesn't contain any chicken or meat by-products or liver. There's a good amount of clearly flaked fish and even some bits of shrimp that are easily identifiable and my cat happily growls his way through it.
I think that's why the cats love it. Cats don't have many taste buds, so they need to smell the food before they can eat it. That's why they won't eat food if it is cold from refrigeration. This food has such a strong odor they can smell it right away.
My kitty loves this food! And I love that each can is a perfect serving size for an adult cat, so that I can just dump one can into his bowl and not have to package any leftovers. I like that this food is basically just canned fish, so it's healthy and full of protein and smells good to my cat without being too stinky to my nose.
This was always a favorite for my felines. Not anymore. Don't know what changed but they won't eat it. I'm feeding four 'outdoor' (I think neuter/release) cats and they wouldn't eat it either. And they're not picky. The possums and raccoons finally ate it. I gave the remaining cans to a rescue group. It's too expensive to feed to the wildlife.
I was pleasantly surprised to see whole baby shrimp in this! My grazer normally smells the food when I put it down and then comes in for a few bites randomly throughout the day. I put this down in front of her and she devoured it in one sitting.
My cats like many Fancy Feast flavors, but not this one! They turn up their noses and walk away! Bought a case of 24 as they usually like fish...good thing I have a dog, too!
