I have used this on my horses scrapes. It softens the scab tissue and allows the hair to come through. Currently, I use this on my horse's belly to ward off the invisible insects that bite her tummy and make her itchy. When I first started using it, my horse's linea alba was a hairless, scarred, chewed up mess. Farriers Wife Salve, helped the open sores heal, and kept the flies and other biting insects away. It also softens the skin allowing the hair to grow back. Highly recommend this product.

Love this salve

I've been using this on my horses for years. It is the best. I put in on their mid line where the files bite, around the udder or sheath and other bare spots

I've been using this on my horses for years. It is the best. I put in on their mid line where the files bite, around the udder or sheath and other bare spots. My mare gets lots of bites around her udder and she stands very still while I spread the salve on her. It soothes the skin and if I'm diligent about application it works great as a fly repellent. It smells good and isn't sticky

Allergic reaction

I just wanted to let everyone know that when I put this on both of my horses, bellies and inner thighs, they had such a strong reaction that we had an emergency

I just wanted to let everyone know that when I put this on both of my horses, bellies and inner thighs, they had such a strong reaction that we had an emergency vet visit from the vet. I would not purchase this item. Both horses had a reaction, but one was so severe we had to have Emergency care.

Horrible reaction

I use the fly spray and love it so thought I would give the belly salve a try. My horses had horrible reactions to the cream. My mare bucked like she was being attacked

I use the fly spray and love it so thought I would give the belly salve a try. My horses had horrible reactions to the cream. My mare bucked like she was being attacked by something. It didnt happen right away but a couple hours after application. Once I washed it all off of her she was better. A couple other horses at my barn had other reactions also, swelling in their arms, face and belly.
