How far can it track my dog?

With a Fi Membership, there is no limit on how far the Fi collar can track a pet, as long as the pet is in the United States and there is GPS and cellular (LTE-M) coverage available. The Fi Series 3+ uses AT&T's LTE-M network to transmit a pet's location data. The LTE-M signal reaches about 30% farther than conventional cellular networks, and AT&T coverage is widely available, including in challenging environments like underground areas and deep inside buildings. The device uses GPS to determine location and LTE-M connectivity to transmit that information to the Fi App. This combination allows for effective real-time location reporting when your pet is outdoors and unattended.

Do I need the 'free subscription' after the 1st year, or will it stop the GPS?

A Fi Membership is required for GPS functionality. The Fi Series 3+ requires an active membership to access GPS and LTE-M tracking capabilities. Here's what you should know: With a Fi Membership: - Full GPS location tracking when the device isn't connected to Wi-Fi, Fi Base, or the Fi App - Remote access to their pet's location and activity - Live Tracking/Lost Mode for real-time updates if their pet goes missing - Detailed activity and sleep tracking - Notifications when their pet exits a safe zone Without a Fi Membership: - The device will still function but with very limited features - No GPS location tracking when the pet moves beyond smartphone, Fi Base, or Wi-Fi range - Cannot activate Lost Mode - No detailed activity tracking or health insights The Fi Series 3+ purchase includes a 30-day risk-free trial of the membership, giving customers time to experience all the features. After the trial period, the membership will need to be continued for full GPS functionality.

Does this keep dogs in a virtual fence or does it only alert you if they escape?

This collar does not emit a beep when your dog is near the boundary. Instead, it alerts you via the Fi App if your dog crosses it. No sounds will come from the collar directly.

Its annoying that Chewy keeps spamming me for a review because this is a product that has features you never really want to use - like tracking your dog when he runs away. That being said, I bought this as a Christmas gift for Jake - our dog - because he is a professional escape artist but (knock on wood) he hasn't strayed since Christmas. I did buy this particular product because a neighbor recommended it once when I was driving around looking for Jake - who had gotten away - and I was stopping everyone I passed. I only gave it three stars because the color is not at all reflective and the collar light is so lame. So lame (for starters it is on the heavier part of the collar so on Jake it always ends up under his neck). I love the yellow color though. Jake is a black dog so he looks great in yellow! ;)

DO NOT BUY!

I purchased this item in 8/25 and was happy with the product for a few months. Then I started to notice the dye from the collar was staining my dogs skin and fur

I purchased this item in 8/25 and was happy with the product for a few months. Then I started to notice the dye from the collar was staining my dogs skin and fur. This causes me great concern for my dog’s physical wellbeing as well as ascetically being unpleasant. I’ve contacted Fi and are giving me the run around about refunding me my $ for the collar. Now I’m stuck with an item I’m not using which I paid good money for.

Good product - Notifications are a little obnoxious

Ive only had our collar a short time, and so far, it's worked great - just as advertised.. The only real issue is all the push-notifications & emails we've received

Ive only had our collar a short time, and so far, it's worked great - just as advertised.. The only real issue is all the push-notifications & emails we've received since setting it up. My pooch doesnt really need a social media account, we dont really use the exercise goals, and dont need to be notified that she's with me everytime I take her for a walk/ride. I just want to find her if she gets away. I've finally disabled most of it, but I was getting 20+ notifications per day for a while, and as soon as I shut off the push-notifications, the emails started. It was a little obnoxious. Otherwise, its a great product, and does show your pet's location and notify you if your pet goes beyond the boundaries you set.

Stopped working in the middle of a search.

It takes 15-20 minutes to acquire signal and yesterday while we were using it to track our lost dog it went offline for almost an hour. We live in a remote area

We have had this color for over three years and just this month upgraded to their newest version. It lasts so much longer, 2 to 3 months on the battery where other systems last maybe a couple days. You have an accurate map showing your dog at all times you can schedule a perimeter that you don’t want the dog to leave, and if it does, it notifies you! you can add other people on your system, so if the dog is lost they will be notified as well. If I had a question, I’d give them a call. I get a live human, that talks me through the questions. Just a wonderful service. Can’t recommend it more. You should consider this if you have a precious pet, that you don’t ever want to lose! Well worth it!

This is excellent real-time information about the travels of my dog in my semi-rural community. One small issue is with the comparison of steps feature. My 17 year old dog is spry enough for his travels, but he gets compared to much younger dogs with respect to “steps” and activity level. He doesn’t like that.

Fairly reasonable, I can speak to a real person via telephone if I need to, and the size is small. I 'm replacing a Whistle collar, which was great, but they were taken over by Tractive. The Tractive collar is HUGE, like hanging an anchor around my dog's neck, and getting help is convoluted and darn near impossible. I'm liking the Fi collar WAY better!
