A miracle for our picky eater!!
We struggled for years to get Archie to eat a full meal. No more! This food is a godsend!! He gobbles everything down. He is like a new dog. I was cooking fresh salmon for him every week as a food topper but he actually likes this better. Go figure. He had some dental issues in the past so I think the soft food is a better chewing experience for him. We mix this with a quarter cup of dry food and it is gone quickly after. The food smells fishy, which makes sense because that is what it is made of, but it is not overly intense. It is soft but holds the shape when transferred to a bowl. There is some liquid in the can but not a lot. I cannot believe how much he likes this!
Finally it arrived!
For whatever reason-my dogs enjoy salmon! They get so excited when it comes to feeding time. This product has not been available for a while and now that it has finally arrived...
Excellent product
This is a great product for picky eaters. My Yorkies had a spell where they stopped eating their regular food. I tried 10 other foods with no success. Chewy recommended this and it is a winner. The only negative I have found is the last 2 cases have more water than the usual and I have to add a topper to thicken to get the texture they are used to. Chewy has been great with their replacement policy and I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good product. Its real salmon with no bones. I compared it to a store bought for humans and it is much better. I don't know if the company changed the product or if it was a mistake adding more water. Will continue with this quality product.

My Mollie loves this “stinky fish” which makes me happy but the product is a bit pricey.

No added unnecessary ingredients; it’s like feeding your dog an actual bowl of fresh salmon and rice. It’s made in Canada which is nice because they typically have higher standards for how they source their meat and what goes into dog food. I’d highly recommend!

High-quality and grain-friendly!
Our dog was just diagnosed with an enlarged heart/heart failure. We learned from the vet that "grain-free" food is a factor in causing this as grain-free foods lack the supplement taurine. We were quick to add a "grain friendly" food and purchased First Mate's wet and dry food. As our dog is also allergic to poultry, we had to not only find a grain friendly food but one that is free of poultry and chicken. First Mate is food the only dog food that fits the bill – and fortunately, this brand is also super high-quality food. So grateful!
My girl loves it
My 10 year old beagador practically inhales her kibble now, since I mix just a little bit with her food. Her coat is shinier and softer and it seems to be agreeing with her sensitive tummy so far. I like that it is limited ingredient as well. I highly recommend this food.

Such a simple recipe--perfect for dogs with sensitive digestive systems. We tried the one with potato too and she didn't fare as well with that as with this one with rice. So, we're sticking with this! She eats 1 can/day with a cup of her salmon-based kibble.
