Carprofen is a non-narcotic, non-steroidal antiinflammatory agent with characteristic analgesic and antipyretic activity approximately equipotent to indomethacin in animals. When administered orally to dogs, carprofen is rapidly absorbed and has over 90% bioavailability. Peak serum concentrations occur 1 to 3 hours after oral administration. Approximately 70% to 80% of a dose is eliminated in feces and 10% to 20% is eliminated in urine. If additional pain medication is warranted after administration of the total daily dose of Flexprofen Tablets, alternative analgesia should be considered. The use of another NSAID is not recommended.
