Description

The Fluval Power Filter is designed to keep your aquarium water sparkling clean with five full stages of filtration. The extensive five-stage filter system includes two mechanical, one chemical and two biological filter chambers, while most filters only have one of each type. This filter is designed to trap large and fine debris and remove dangerous toxins all while cultivating good bacteria for a healthy environment for your finned friends. The mechanical filtration is performed by a thick poly/foam that traps debris. During the chemical stage, activated carbon removes toxins from the water. In the final biological stages, a Bio-Screen pad promotes healthy bacterial growth and contributes to fast and effective nitrification.

Key Benefits
  • Extensive 5 stage filter helps to produce clean and clear water conditions and a healthy environment for aquarium life to thrive.
  • Provides maximum surface area and optimum dwell times in all stages of the filtration process.
  • Features 2 stage mechanical filtration that effectively traps large and fine debris, reducing harmful ammonia and phosphate build up by removing fish waste, uneaten food, and other organic materials.
  • Activated carbon for chemical filtration to effectively remove dangerous toxins while the Bio-Screen pad provides encourages the growth of good bacteria.
  • The patented refiltration control system lets you slow down the water output, creating a gentle flow to protect delicate fish and plants.

    Don’t waste your money

    By on

I purchased this filter in March 2020. In Apr during my weekly tank maintenance the filter pump stopped working and when it did work made a squealing sound. I called Fluval who replaced the magnet and propeller. They were out of stock so I had to wait until June for replacement. After replacing the item it worked for another month before same issue. Called back and Fluval wanted me to buy a replacement motor before they would honor their 2 year warranty. I would have to send back the old one before they would credit me the money. I also emailed Fluval explaining the issue and they sent out a motor pin, which I replaced when it arrived (Aug). Now Oct and motor acting up again. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Amazing filter, good for shrimp

    By on

I'm using this filter in an aqueon 20 gallon long aquarium with Harlequin Rasbora and cherry shrimp. It cleans the tank incredibly well and has decent flow. I wrapped the filter intake in mesh to prevent the shrimp from getting sucked in but I don't think it was necessary because the intake already has protection. It is also height adjustable.

Noisy In Less Than A Month

    By on

I was so hopeful when I ordered three of these filters. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Two started being noisy...in just under a month of use. This is why I don't hold out hope for the third. I've had many filters over 50 years so I know how to check for and solve most issues. Nothing worked. And the water level is fine so that's not the problem and that's not the noise. If these were in tanks across the room it would be semi tolerable. But they are right next to where I sit on the sofa. On the plus side and just enough to change stars from one to two, they are easy filters to set up and seem to work well. So if yours remain quiet I am sure you will be satisfied.

Bought it, Tried it, Love it.

I’ve only used HOB filters on the past and was thinking about going to a canister in order to cut down on the noise by hiding it under the cabinet but I must say that I was pleasantly surprise with the C3 Fluval. The motor runs almost silently and as long as the water level in your tank is high enough you will barely know that it’s running. It’s also very powerful at the same time. Love it.

    Fantastic HOB filters

    By on

I have 2 C4 filters on a 110 gallon freshwater tank. They are very quiet, easy to clean and my water is crystal clear with good water flow. My only complaint is I need 2 8" intake extension tubes on each filter to reach the bottom of the tank at $10 each, way to expensive for a plastic tube.

    Quiet powerhouse. Happily surprised.

    By on

Bought 2 C4s for my 29 gallon. You can never have enough filtration. Set up was easy. Has adjustable flow control. One I am running carbon and one I am running all biomax. People say these filters are extremely loud. I have 2 in one tank next to my bed and you can't notice them except for a little water trickle. I recently had a marineland penguin 400 and it was so loud and sounded like a waterfall. With the C4 you can even have the water down several inches from the output and the water flow hitting the top is pretty much silent. I am extremely happy with my purchase. I even bought 2 more to replace other filters. Very impressed,

    Came cracked and chipped

The one I bought years ago worked really well for my 20 gallon. So I bought this one for my other tank. Unfortunately, the top came broken.

    One damaged

    By on

Although those seem to be nice filters, getting one out of four damaged (that is 25%) does not seem too good.

    Small Giant

    By on

This filter is fantastic, I wish they make larger filters with the same filtration system. The filtering stages are wonderful all pack in a small, physically small, filter system. I am amazed of the efficiency of this unit. Once again Aluval does not disappoint me.

My water has never been clearer

    By on

This filter is very quiet plus my water is crystal clear. I had a problem with brown algae that seems to be clearing up.
