The Fluval AquaClear Bio-Foam for the AC110 is absolutely fantastic. It fits perfectly in the filter chamber, and the quality is noticeably better than generic sponges. The foam is dense enough to trap fine debris, yet porous enough to keep water flowing smoothly — exactly what you want in a first-stage mechanical filter. What makes this sponge stand out is how well it balances filtration and flow. It catches an impressive amount of waste without clogging quickly or slowing down the filter. Rinsing it is super easy, and it holds up really well after multiple cleanings (no tearing, no crumbling). On top of that, it provides a ton of surface area for beneficial bacteria, which helps keep the tank’s nitrogen cycle stable. Pairing this with Biomax and carbon gives the AC110 an extremely efficient and dependable filtration system. If you want your AquaClear running at its best, this sponge is a must-have replacement. We currently use both a large Fluval canister filter and a Fluval hang-on-back filter, and the performance of their filtration media has been consistently excellent. We have never encountered any issues with their filter media, and the quality, reliability, and effectiveness remain unmatched in our experience.
