Feeding a wet food for cats with cystitis is critical. Finding a prescription food they will actually eat is a struggle. After I spent a small fortune on various prescription foods and having my cats turn their noses up at them I did some research on Chewy. I found Forza10, had my vet check it out and she gave me a thumbs up. All the cystitis patient, his brother and even my little female. Success!
I got the renal support first, and they ate the first shipment. They hardly touched the second shipment. I switched to urinary, and they love it every morning! I have two cats, and each gets half the tin. I mix each half with a tablespoon of hot water. It's gone in 2 minutes. I also tried their dry food, but it is way too expensive. They eat Science Diet Urinary for dry food.
First off its not a pate. Its more like finely flaked canned tuna in a weird gelatinous mixture. What I do is add it to hot water and mash it with a fork until I can get it as close to a pate as possible. There are also tiny bits of bone and skin here and there so if thats a deal breaker for you you wont like it. But you can tell the stuff is fresh and has few ingredients. It smells like a fish market. Stinks up the room for a bit. I still have cans of their old brand Halo and since I put them on Forza they wont touch the Halo. Its like once they had a taste of real food they look at the Halo as a joke. And everyone is eating less. Theyre not gorging themselves like before. I think the food fills them up better and is more satisfying. Im actually surprised they like it.
I like that the packaging is large enough for my cats to eat directly from it. I do not like that the packaging is not rigid enough (so when opening it, It squishes and gets all over my hands). The quality of the food is good.
The packaging needs improvements. A box was damaged in shipment and one dish opened and leaked in the box. It was an awful odor, rancid and watery. I still can't get the stench out of my nostrils. I had to throw the entire box away. Chewy did send another. But I will not buy this again due to the package and one ingredient which is pork liver.
Both of my cats have crystals. This food is wonderful because no prescription needed! It is gel-like, but I add water to it and mix it up. The cats eat it all.
I read the previous reviews of this food and thought, "my cat eats anything; surely she will like this!" However, my cat did not like this. It's stinky. Which she also loves. But this is REALLY stinky and she will not eat it. It's also not really a pate- think tuna in gelatin.
My cat has urinate tract issues and thought this was good for him. Big mistake! Writing this review from the ER where his urinary tract has crystals.
I wanted to try something new for my kitties. I've dealt with UTI issues (years ago) with both my males and females. Hoping for no kitty to ever have to deal with that again, I've been supplementing their diets with urinary support friendly foods, and even have 2 water fountains to encourage more drinking. I tried Nutraceutic on a whim. It's an absolute hit! The trays are easy to open and easy to rinse for recycling. The cats go bonkers over this food. No leftovers. I plan to reorder.
I badly wanted this to work, but my cat refused to like it no matter what I tried. I still rate it a five-star for the ingredients. I work for a cat rescue so will pass the remaining cans along to them.
