How do I measure my pet for the best fit?

To get the most accurate size harness for your furry best friend, measure the girth of their chest, just behind the front legs, with a cloth tape measure. Pull the tape snug, but not tight. If youdon'thave a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it with a rigid ruler afterwards. Make sure_there's_enough room for about two fingers between the harness and your pup's chest.

For a correct fit, it is necessary to measure your dog's girth and neck in inches, and compare to the size chart. To measure the neck girth, measure around your pet's neck leaving room for two fingers and to measure chest girth, measure your pet's chest around the widest part. If your pet falls somewhere between two sizes, we advise ordering the larger of the two. For the complete size chart, please refer to the photo below or click the “Size” tab, next to the “Instructions” tab, just under the product photos.

Does this have to be pulled over the dog's head and step in? Or does it have buckles for around the neck and legs so the dog doesn't need to move to get it on and off?

This harness is not a step in. To put it on, simply pull it over your pet's head and clip the buckles on the sides.

Really nice looking harness, well constructed. Ran small in sz Small.

I bought two of these to use as the base for Halloween costumes. The quality is fantastic, and I saw literally the same harness at another pet supply shop for $65. Unfortunately the size chart was off, and the reviews (for larger sizes) lead me astray even more. The Small didn't fit either of my dogs. Size Chart says Girth 16-22" and Neck 13-19". My corgi mix is 31lbs, Girth 23" Neck 13.5". It wasn't even close; super short in the front and wouldn't buckle around the chest. The harness was even too small around the chest for my sheltie (19lbs), Girth 19.5" and Neck 12".

sizing is definitely off.

I bought 2 of these harnesses. One for a mini-dachshund and one for an overweight chi-mix. I measured them both with a seamstress’ ribbon before I decided on the right (I thought) harness for them. Well… if the sizing was right, my dachshund would JUST fill out the small, and my chi would need a medium with room to expand if needed. This was not correct and so now I have one harness that fits the dachshund on the SMALLEST placement possible for the small size, and my chi falls right out of the medium. I was skeptical about the size and almost sized down, but I didn’t BECAUSE of the measurements listed! This is the most disappointed I’ve been in an item from chewy strictly because I tried so hard to make sure I followed the directions before ordering and it was still wrong. Now I’m moving this weekend and will have to wait to even be able to order another so I’ll have to go to the dreaded (insert stupid chain petstore here). I will say these seem like well made harnesses but I would definitely size down when ordering.

Great Value

I hardly ever write reviews for items BUT I felt compelled to write this months later given the high value of this harness. I adopted a large mixed breed puppy and, knowing he’d grow super quickly, wanted to hold off on investing in a nicer harness until he’s full-grown. This has exceeded my expectations for the price, fitting him from his original 30 lbs to now 55. I followed the measurements for sizing.

weird ring placement

Cute but the ring needs to be able to clip in the front or the middle of the back but bc it’s at the back of the back it only works if your dog pulls but is weird if your dog walks beside you or is blind and you have to lead your dog.

Best Harness Ever

We have a Dachshund and a Chiweenie. This is a difficult breed to buy harnesses for because of their chest hump. This harness is perfect because you can adjust the neck and the girth for a custom fit. Plus it looks super cute. It looks like they’re wearing little security guard vests lol. It is also very easy to remove and put on. We bought size small!
