How thick is the base? Is the 4 inch measurement for the base or for the base AND bolster side? Is this egg crate or memory foam? Need more information to make a purchase decision. Thanks

The foam is regular furniture grade foam. The foam base is 3 inches and there is 1 inch of quilted top.
