what size for a Bichon 18 lbs?

For the best fit, match the below dimensions to your pet's measurements as closely as possible. If your pet falls somewhere between two sizes, we advise ordering the larger of the two. For the body measure the base of the neck to the base of the tail. For the body measure around your dog's neck leaving room for two fingers. For the chest measure your dog's chest around the widest part.

Does this have an opening for a leash with a harness that is over the back instead of the neck?

This peacoat has only a single opening for a leash on the gingham pattern which should be far enough back to attach to a harness.

Great Jacket, wish they didn't have hoods.

Inside is a soft fleece, outside feels thick and high quality. The hood is cute but I hate when they put them on pet jackets. Just don't, please. Put on a 13.5lb

Inside is a soft fleece, outside feels thick and high quality. The hood is cute but I hate when they put them on pet jackets. Just don't, please. Put on a 13.5lb Maine coon. Fits great. I wondered if it was going to be too long but it's okay. Not sure a small would have fit her, possibly?? She was unimpressed. Didn't really want to put it on and once I out it on meowed a "Noo" at me. Jury is open whether it is the fit, the hood or the color. Possibly because it isn't pink. Xen has worn other colors in the past but her sister, Zagara would only wear pink. I've recently been putting her in Zagara's pink sweater when we go for a walk and recently got her a new pink jacket (was the only decent color) so it's possible that she has adopted the demand for pink since Zagara's passing. Great jacket, might be donated because of a color picky cat.

Great for a dachshund

I have a 22lb dachshund and this coat in size large fits great! Even thought the size chart says he should be a medium, I’ve gotten him mediums in Frisco coats before

I have a 22lb dachshund and this coat in size large fits great! Even thought the size chart says he should be a medium, I’ve gotten him mediums in Frisco coats before and they are too small. The large goes along the entirety of his back and the straps have enough room to fit a harness underneath. The coat itself is very well made and so cute.

I like the hood and the warmth of the material, but the velcro straps should also include snaps or a buckle because eventually the velcro is going to wear out

Very easy to put on my dog.

I loved it. The dog not so much. There is access for a leash attached to a collar, just wish there was an opening for a harness.
