Does the grate start to smell after a while and if so how do you get it clean? Im getting a mini schnauzer in a few weeks and want to be prepared.

It can smell if you do not change pads consistently. My reason for purchasing bc my yorkie pup would chew, tear & eat her pads. I went through 2 pad holder & this one I wished I would’ve purchased first lol but you live and learn along the way… the only con to this is my puppy chews on both of the locks on each side BUT I no longer have to deal with a mess of shredded pads, I will say if you see poop - I would highly recommend getting it up before it gets stepped in and I will honestly say it isn’t fun cleaning it when it’s been steeped and mashed into the grate but this is the smartest thing and purchase I’ve made. I hope this helps !!

Is there s larger size available?

Does the grate on the top come off separately from the frame? Or do you have to take off frame and grate to clean ?

The grate is part of the frame. It comes off in one piece for easy cleaning.

My 80lb Weimaraner was trained on pee pads when I lived in a 3rd floor walk up of a 2 story condo. She mainly goes outside but when I’m not at home she’ll still use this so she doesnt have to wait. I have a different variety and she’s likes to pee near the edge with one foot off the tray. Because of that she’d constantly end up getting urine under the pad of that tray. This tray has a lip that locks the pad in place so I’m never wiping up puddles of pee under the pad inside the tray because it’s impossible to pee that close to the edge of the pad. I’m ordering a second and tossing the other one I have.

Holds the Frisco pads very well.

He loves to chew on the frame. They are a soft plastic and don't last. We painted the frame with a Bitter Apple/ repelling scent. As soon as it faded, he chewed

As soon as it faded, he chewed off the handles and a corner of the frame. Wish there were something they could do to make the frames more resistant to chewing. After all, they are intended for puppies and chewing is their favorite activity.

Prevents destroying puppy pad

My dog started ripping up his puppy pad while I was away so I got this. This keeps him from being able to to that and he took to it in no time. Only downside is

Only downside is that it’s not the easiest to clean, but I can’t have it both ways! I wipe it down with Dawn dish soap and a paper towel every day, and once a week I bleach and wash in the utility sink. It has held up great

This works great for my 14 week old Pomeranian!

We have had this for less than 24 hours and my puppy is already going potty on this on his own! Before getting this it was a literally hit or miss on the potty pads

We have had this for less than 24 hours and my puppy is already going potty on this on his own! Before getting this it was a literally hit or miss on the potty pads . He didn’t know where they stopped and would stand on the pad and accidentally potty on the floor. This is a game changer and such great value for the price. Plus his little feet don’t get wet.
