What’s there to say about a cat scratch toy? Well, if you ask my feline critics, KitCat and Zanzibar, quite a lot. Zanzibar, ever the hopeless romantic, was immediately smitten with the heart-shaped design. “Finally,” she seemed to say, “a toy that understands my poetic soul.” But what really sealed the deal was the catnip. Oh, the catnip! She purred softly, rolled back and forth on the pad with the grace of a ballerina (if ballerinas also tried to eat their props), and made it clear that this scratch toy was her new obsession. Now, KitCat is a different story. He’s a big guy with an image to uphold—a bit of a tough guy, if you will. He has a reputation to maintain, and openly enjoying a scratch toy just doesn’t align with his “strong, silent type” persona. At first, he barely glanced at it. He sniffed dismissively, stretched as if to say, “What’s so great about this thing?” Then, as soon as I stopped watching and turned my attention elsewhere, he forgot about the Blink mini cam spying on him. That’s when his inner kitten emerged. I caught him rolling on the toy like it was the greatest invention since the tuna can. Nice try, KitCat. Your secret’s out. As for me, I do have one suggestion: why not include a full pack of catnip? Not for the cats, of course—they’re spoiled enough—but for the humans who need a little something to keep up with the chaos of their feline overlords.
