The size tab only gives dimensions for one panel. It is not clear how many panels are included. What is square footage when set up as a rectangle?

There are 8 panels included, each measuring 18 inches wide by 15 inches tall. When set up as a square, the square footage is 9 ft².
does it come with a mat as well?

This Frisco playpen does not include the mat.
can 2 be clipped together to make a bigger cage?

This playpen comes as one unit with the panels attached. Two playpens cannot be clipped together.
instead of a square, can i make it a long rectangle?

This playpen allows you to configure it in to different shapes such as a rectangle.

Nice product

I had an alternate use for this fencing. I used it to keep my small dogs out of an area where my Christmas cactus might shed blooms, which are poisonous to dogs. I just brought the cactus in from outside for the winter, and it is blooming currently, The fencing stands up nicely and is a quality product.
