About Full Moon Dog Treats

100% Human Grade Dog Treats

Full Moon believes dogs deserve food that’s every bit as good as what we humans feed ourselves, so they try to choose the best every step of the way. Every Full Moon treat starts with USDA-approved, farm-raised meats carefully cooked in small batches, for a quality and taste that’s evident in every bite. You’ll notice the difference the second you open the bag.

Naturally Healthy and Tasty

Regionally sourced, cage-free US poultry, Heritage US pork and ranch-raised cattle fed an all-natural diet form the foundation for all Full Moon’s meaty treats. Full Moon uses only meat from healthy, farm-raised animals and never adds any artificial colors or preservatives to their treats. Reward your pup the way nature intended, with treats full of the natural protein he needs to feel his best.

Made In The USA

Full Moon makes all their treats in fully GFSI-compliant, BRC or SQF Food Safety Standards-audited kitchens. Unlike other companies, who use high heat thermal extrusion to make their foods and treats, they slow cook their recipes under low heat to retain more of the raw ingredients’ natural nutrients and flavor. It’s a wholesome difference your pet will taste and one you’ll appreciate, too.

Raised with Care

Raising animals the right way not only guarantees a better product, it’s simply the right thing to do. Full Moon works with its family farmers across the US to ensure that only the highest ethical standards are employed in raising the poultry, pork and cattle that goes into their treats.

Quality Ingredients

Full Moon takes pride in the quality of their ingredients, and no ingredient is more important than the protein they pack into every human-grade treat. They use USDA-inspected meats sourced from Perdue Farms—the same high-quality, antibiotic-free Perdue meats you see at your local store. For over 100 years, Perdue has worked with its farmers to raise animals right and thoughtfully tend the land.

About Full Moon Pet Treats

Full Moon is a fourth generation, family-owned company that’s been making naturally delicious pet treats since 2011. The idea for Full Moon Treats was born when founder Ryan Perdue grew frustrated with all the low quality dog treats made with low-grade meat from places like China and cheap fillers like corn. Today, they make a range of great-tasting, nutritious treats made from simple, honest recipes and 100% natural ingredients. Each recipe uses USDA-approved, human-grade meat and is cooked right here in the USA in Full Moon’s very own kitchens.

Questions & Answers

11 Customer Questions

You mention that your treats are "human grade." Is this a marketing term? Is this different from "food grade?"
Answer by ChewyMar 07, 2019
The term "human grade" in pet food means the finished product is legally suitable and approved as nourishment for humans. It is much more rigorously regulated than foods normally made for animals. The term "food grade" is an adjective that means the material or product at hand is either fit for human or animal consumption, or, more commonly, is at least permitted to come into contact with food like a plastic food storage container.

are these USA sourced and processed in USA
Answer by ChewyJan 07, 2019
These products are made in the USA with USA-grown Purdue© chicken.

Why do they put sugar in this jerky?
Answer by ChewyMay 02, 2019
Sugar is used in a very small amount and is used as a natural preservative. This treat has 1.3% of sugar per 15 grams (per treat).

How many grams of cane sugar is in each bag or serving.
Answer by ChewyOct 29, 2018
The treats contain 2.9 grams of sugar per strip.

Beware Of Full Moon Chicken Jerkey Treats!!!!!!!

I Tried These Treats For My 12 Year Old Dachshund. He Loved Them...At First. After A Few Times Of Eating Them, He Got Very Sick. He Vomited For Two Days! He Was Eating Grass To Help Himself. I Was About To Take Him To The Vets. He Seemed To Be A Little Better After Refusing To Eat (for a day)... I Gave Him A Half Of A Banana Cut Up In Slices. It Seemed To Settle His Stomach. I Was Fortunate. He Didn't Need Emergency Vet Care...Like Some Of The Poor Pet Owners That Left Bad Reviews. Please Read All Reviews! These Treats Should Be Taken Off The Market. People Complained Of Mold! I Thew Them Out...Never Will Buy Any Full Moon Products Again!

texture change & mold

I have been giving these to my pups for years. I’ve been ordering off Chewy auto-ship for over a year (3 bags). The last shipment the texture was been off - hard, brittle, off color & covered in white substance. I contacted Chewy, they asked for the lot # and they sent replacement bags. Unfortunately they were from the same lot # and had the same issue. Chewy issued a refund saying that the white substance could be mold and to throw them away. We then purchased this same jerky at a local Supermarket and they were fresh with no issues. Will continue to use Chewy for dog food but won’t order jerky treat. Customer service is great, may just be a storage/temperature issue at Chewy.

White powder residue

I had the same situation as other reviewers. I thought I buy them with the benefit of the doubt, however I receive the same product... Without opening I can see that there's white powder coated over the product. I gave 2 stars because my pup still likes them, but I disagree on the humane grade though.

Chicken jerky was moldy

My dog loves this jerky but now I'm leary about purchasing again after receiving a bag of this moldy jerky. I called and reported this. Chewy immediately sent me a new bag. Great customer service. I agree with other reviews that the quality is not the same as it use to be. Like the fact that it is made in the USA but I'm going to look for a new brand to purchase as I don't trust this brand anymore.

Avoid Purchasing Product!!

This jerky was recommended by our Vet. After eating 1 treat, our dog vomited twice. She is still recovering from the effects a day later. The jerky was brittle and covered in a thin white film. As a first time user, I wasn’t sure what product was supposed to look like. I called and reported issue to Chewy.

White coating on the jerky

The first few jerkies were all fine but in a week’s time a majority of them developed a white coating. We always seal tight the bag so not sure if we just got a bad batch. But I am not planning to give them to my yorkie anymore.

beware of these!

My dog loved these treats but the most recent batch led to bouts of him throwing up & eventually a $1100 trip to the vet to and multiple prescriptions. My vet warned me that chicken jerky is notorious for stomach problems. News to me! Your dog may love them but beware. There’s nothing worse than giving your dog a treat only for it to cause them pain & discomfort ):

Green mold

Just opened bag with expiration date of 11/24 and they are covered in green mold. They were stored in a cool dry place on my end and after reading other reviews, there is an obvious problem that’s not being addressed.

Healthy Great Tasting Treat

I had a gift card, so thought I would try these in addition to our regular order. Christmas, our husky, loves them. She can be picky, even about her treats. These got 5 stars from her. They are great quality, says human grade, chicken jerky. Not cheap, but a good size bag and nice size pieces of jerky, and a healthy, quality treat. Was worth the price. Will be adding these to the monthly order. Also will be trying the other flavors.

Quality has DECLINED

These treats used to come looking like the picture. They used to be soft and the last 2 bags I have gotten have been hard as a rock, light in color, and with white spots on them (mold?).
