I wanted a training collar for my pet dog and this model was recommended to me by a friend/professional dog trainer for my purposes. I have started using it with my 3yo lab and so far, I like it. The control is a bit large for my hand compared to another Garmin I used my my friend - taking a little bit of time to get used to it and make sure I am holding it correctly. I like that there is no display but that the settings can be adjusted without looking at the control.
I got the garmin sport for my 4 1/2 month old Austrian cattle dog it is not to powerful for a puppy but I will say it is extremely hard to fit on a puppy because of the strap being so extra long and the box on collar is alittle big and it prongs were alittle difficult to get set but I took orange marker mark the hole you always use on collar. I have zero fear of this coming of like a buckle collar. The vibrate is one setting and is milded which is good doesn’t scare so must. And tone is just plan and not very loud but the lights on collar are like a landing strip on a plane overall works excellent for recall
The transmitter is simple to operate but doesn't hold a charge well. It may have to be replaced.
I’ve used this food since I got our puppy in August of 2021. I tried switching up to the adult food because the pedigree puppy was unavailable everywhere …. She was not having it! She is 10 months old now and 70lbs and still such a puppy at heart! We will most likely use this puppy food the full 18 months. LOL
Overall, I am pleased with the training collar. It works well. My main complaint about the controller unit is that the toggle switch that allows it to control up to three collars is easily and inadvertently moved (such as when slipping the unit into a pocket). Consequently, this switch requires frequent attention to be sure it hasn't been bumped to a position other than the desired one. All of the other controls are very positive and require a very deliberate movement to operate.
Well built and intuitive to use. Rechargeable battery is nice. Clearly there is a slot for a belt clip and a hole for a lanyard molded into the handset but neither is included. That is a bad miss. 10 cents of plastic would have gotten 5 stars.
When it’s looser than recommended, it’ll still shock inconsistently when the dog barks - no surprise there. However when it’s AS tight as recommended, it’ll randomly shock the dog while eating or walking around. The random shocks don’t happen often, but it occurs 3-4 times throughout the day. Overall, it’s pretty useful for changing behavior in dogs that constantly bark. I just wish it wouldn’t randomly shock for no reason.
I actually created an account on Chewy to leave this review. I have been using this e-collar for two years, and all I can say it is incredible. I have read other reviews, and concluded that frankly others don't understand how to use an e-collar. The collar is designed to offer graded stimulation, with only one setting for vibrate and tone. If you feel uncomfortable using an e-collar and only want a vibrate feature, save your money and buy a cheap collar. However, if you really want a durable, effective, and elegantly simple-to-use e-collar this is the one. I love that there are no LED screens to try to read in the sunlight. The spinning dial is super easy to adjust in the midst of training sessions and in the field. The range is great, and I have never been out of touch with my dog (a pretty big-ranging German Shorthaired Pointer). The toggle to other collars is also really easy and simple (by the way, you can get multiple collars from GARMIN that work with this transmitter. Do not buy a duplicate transmitter just to get an extra collar.) I love that I can turn the running lights on when I let my dog out at night. The only aspect of this collar I have not utilized in the bark collar feature. Overall, I have found it to be absolutely worth the money and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a fairly serious training tool
This is the think I have bought. All I use is tone and vibrant. In the past 2 months I only had to use the shock part 5 times. Now you can put it in bark mode where if your dog barks it will start low at level 1 and go up until he or she stops. Then it will remember that spot until you turn it off... battery has a long lifespan. I charge it every 2-3 days. Remote every week or so. It does have a led light bulb on the collar but I don’t recommend using it... because it will kill the battery fast... you can but 3 collars per remote...
My favorite training collar! It has bark limiter and every option you can imagine. LOVE IT!
