Questions & Answers

6 Customer Questions

is one bag good for a 10 gallon tank
Answer by ChewySep 20, 2022
A 5-pound bag provides enough substrate for a 5 gallon tank. Use 1 pound of gravel per gallon of water.

Will the color come off, and is it toxic?
Answer by ChewyApr 07, 2020
This gravel is chemically inert and non-toxic. It is commonly composed of quartz or other lime-free minerals, and will not affect water chemistry.

Is this acceptable for a gold fish? I seen elsewhere this is medium sized gravel and not good for them
Answer by ChewySep 16, 2021
This aquarium gravel is suitable for use with goldfish.

Is this gravel coated?
Answer by ChewyFeb 06, 2021
The gravel is coated. These colors are not natural.

pretty…disappointing

I was pretty excited to get some new gravel for my fishes and I cleaned/rinsed them a while before putting them in the tank. At first it was beautiful, lovely…,until it started doing this. After awhile it would clear up but now it’s staying this murky color.

the top of bag was open

There was a small hole in the bag, which I had other damage items as well. Will share a photo below.

What can I say. They’re rocks !

These are super easy to open, rinse, and add to your aquarium. I mixed this with substrate so that my plants would have an easier time rooting end it looks wonderful. If you’re wondering how many rocks are colorful, it’s much less than you think from the photos. For me that is a good thing, but if you were looking for a ratio, personally for mine it was about 1/4 colored and the rest was black. Personally I love this because I have a planted tank and I only slightly wanted a pop of color. It’s just gravel but it works great! I’m very happy that none of this is sharp as I have snails. I think mixing it with substrate makes a perfectly wonderful floor for plants and bottom feeders. But that’s just my personal opinion !

Colorful!!!!

The gravel looks great in the new tank! Was enough to fill the bottom of a 3 gallon tank perfectly. The neon rocks glow nicely under the light.

Great value - good looking

We have a blue led light with our bubbler and it looks very cool with this gravel. we only needed one bag with our 20 gallon tank.

Base for hanging terrarium

I didn't buy this for an aquarium, but a terrarium. The project is a small 'teardrop terrarium' for moss and tiny plants. Although a white pebble foundation was suggested, these stones seemed a more interesting choice. And, at the time of purchase, there was a discount!
